Joe Daniels was a popular jazz drummer and British Dance Band leader. While initially working with bands such as that of Harry Roy's in the 1920s and 1930s, he quickly rose to fame internationally with his band Joe Daniels and His Hot Shots. They became known for their distinctive and zippy Dixieland-influenced renditions of swing hits from the period.

The Dorsey Brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, were influential American musicians and bandleaders who played pivotal roles in the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s. After initially performing together in various orchestras, including that of the Paul Whiteman (known as "The King of Jazz"), they formed their own bands in the late 1930s. Tommy, a virtuoso trombonist, and Jimmy, a talented saxophonist and clarinetist, each led successful ensembles, with Tommy's band renowned for its smooth, polished arrangements and Jimmy’s for its more vibrant, jazz-infused style. The Cypress Creek Jazz band is a 8 piece group of local musicians with strong roots in the Tampa music scene. We play HOT! New Orleans's style jazz, joyful Dixieland or Spiritual Dixieland Hymns and Old time gospel.
We have performed together for over 15 years all over the Tampa area at venues like the Straz Center, Carrollwood Cultural Center, New Tampa Performing Arts Center, Dade City Kumquat Festival as well as many others.
The Cypress Creek Jazz Band takes the soulful essence of New Orleans and the vibrant melodies of Dixieland music and melds them into a harmonious blend of musical mastery. With each note, we transport our audience to the lively streets of the French Quarter, invoking the spirit of jazz legends past and present.
