Dexter Moses, originally from Richmond, VA, now based in Durham, NC is a young rising saxophonist, composer, and educator. His introduction to jazz began at the age of 12 through the RVA Richmond Youth Jazz Guild, led by pianist Ashby Anderson. Through the program he got the opportunity to play at local festivals and events, and perform for notable figures such as Wynton Marsalis and Bill Clinton at the Richmond Forum. While attending Appomattox Regional Governor's School in Petersburg, VA he was in the top jazz band led by educator James Carver and privately studied under Berklee College of Music and North Carolina Central University alum, James "Saxsmo" Gates.
