A multi instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards), writer, and vocalist, David Ruther's path to his contemporary jazz sound which he calls " slick jazz " was forged from years of studio experimentation with various song structures and recording techniques. Striving to create a sound that could satisfy his tastes in hip jazz infused pop music; he began writing and (with a predominant influence from Michael Franks) began pursuing vocals. After a few years performing his compositions live, studio projects became the focus for solo original work and live work took the form of work with two groups, The Chemistry Project ( David co-writes and plays keys ) and Truth Serum ( David co-writes and plays bass ).
