Dan Berglund

Born:

Dan Berglund was born in May 1963 and grew up in a small village in Sweden called Pilgrimstad near Ostersund. His father played accordion in an amateur band and his elder brother played guitar. They introduced him at an early age to very different styles of music including Swedish folk music, pop and rock.

Dan started to play the guitar when he was ten and soon after formed a band with his local friends. The band was made up of three guitarists and one drummer, so they were missing the bassist. Jazzkaar Interviews: Bugge Wesseltoft

Read "Jazzkaar Interviews: Bugge Wesseltoft" reviewed by Martin Longley

Your scribe witnessed the Nordic supergroup Rymden three times during 2019, illustrating how much this new constellation (in Norwegian, the word means 'space,' as in cosmic space) has expanded almost uncontrollably since making their debut. Even as an abstract concept, the combination was tantalising in the extreme. Purely acoustic piano and electronically distressed keyboards from Bugge ...

Esbjörn Svensson Trio Live in Gothenburg ACT Music 2019 At the time, it was a marvel. The Esbjorn Svensson Trio had already come a long way since their early-'90s beginnings in reshaping the already-skewed traditions of Monk-ian jazz. All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
