Dino Betti van der Noot

Born: September 18, 1936

Dino Betti van der Noot (born 1936) is an Italian jazz composer.

Van der Noot was born in Rapallo. His mother and cousin were classical pianists. He studied at Scuola Musicale of Pavia, 1946–51; in 1959 studied privately in Milan and in the 1970s at Berklee College of Music In Italy, he led combos from 1957–1960, but was not active in music in the 1960s. He led an amateur big band from 1969–1972 and a professional big band in 1982 and in 1987 in New York City. He is chairman of B Communications, an advertising agency in Milan.

In his bands, he worked with Andrea Dulbecco, Ares Tavolazzi, Bill Evans, Bob Cunningham, Danny Gottlieb, David Friedman, Donald Harrison, Hugo Heredia, Famoudou Don Moye, Franco Ambrosetti, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Gianluigi Trovesi, John Taylor, Jonathan Scully, Joyce Yuille, Luis Agudo, Paul Bley, Paul Motian, Sandro Cerino, Steve Swallow, Tiziano Tononi, and Vincenzo Zitello.

Great Aunt Ruth & the Saucy Cats

It all began when aspiring singer-songwriter Kathryn Joy met veteran pianist Joel Scott at a jazz bar on a cruise ship somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.  Scott, who had worked with such notables as the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls, Dionne Warwick, Marlena Shaw and O.C. Smith, heard not only the enthusiasm of Ms. Joy but saw a great deal of potential in both her songs and her voice.  He became her mentor.

Thus began an important–if sadly short-lived–musical collaboration.  Together, they formed Great Aunt Ruth & the Saucy Cats and recorded four of Kathryn Joy's songs.  But just six days after their last recording session in 2015, Joel Scott passed away.  

Fortunately, he left the songwriter in good hands.  Rahn Coleman, a notable vocal coach, arranger and keyboardist, became her producer.  She was also joined by trumpeter-recording engineer Nolan "KatDaddy" Shaheed.  Coleman and Shaheed have been invaluable contributors to Kathryn Joy's career and the recording of their EP All About the Music in Your Heart. 

"The Ballad of Kitty Bandit" (2022) is the group's theatrical follow-on to the Django hot jazz style single "On Ne Sait Jamais" (2021).  It blends a 1920s New Orleans feel with 1950s Dixieland blues and a few modern touches and features Nolan "KatDaddy" Shaheed's colourful trumpet with a swinging band.  

Aaron Wheeler

Aaron Wheeler is one of the UK’s most prolific media composers, with over 550 tracks published through EMI Production Music / Sony ATV. Aaron also writes bespoke compositions for TV, adverts and games, including music for Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire – ITV’s – Sing if You Can, BBC2 – Being Human, Lancôme Advert, Dell PC Advert. Aaron set up Lydian Label (est. 2010) to release his own compositions as ‘Laszlo’ and ‘Musicbox’. The label has a large media/radio and online following resulting in plays from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music as well as a publishing deal with Mute Song. He performs his compositions live with his band, Lydian Collective

Jakob Norgren

Born: June 7, 1967

Jakob Norgren is a Swedish saxophonist, composer, arranger and big band leader. Main instruments are baritone sax, tenor sax, clarinet, bass clarinet and contra alto clarinet. He started his orchestra, initially named Jakob Norgren Big Band Splash, in 2004 and first released two albums that mixed contemporary jazz with soul/R&B. From 2010 Jakob let the band develop into a pure soul-jazz/R&B orchestra under the shortened name Big Band Splash, while introducing Jakob Norgren Jazz Orchestra (with almost the same members) where he could refine his contemporary jazz writing. Defenders of the republic

Defenders of the republic (D.O.T.R.) is a collaboration between two philadelphia artist, June Lopez & Taji Ra'oof Nahl aka TR7 -who share the same likes in music, art, photography, modern furniture, and artistic expressions. Over the years they complimented and supported each others endeavors which eventually led to their collaboration. Both TR7 and Lopez have been consistent contributors to the art scene for some time.

As the Defenders of the Republic, both artist decided that it would be beneficial to collaborate utilizing each others skills in both audio, and visual through artistic expressions. The concept of the Defenders of the Republic is based on societal make up which are security, spirituality, cultural, economic and academic. D.O.T.R. use artistic means to expound upon these five principles that make up the republic.

Jacinta Clusellas

Born: November 28, 1989

Jacinta Clusellas is a guitarist, vocalist, composer and arranger from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her music brings together Argentinian Folklore and Jazz, in the context of songs influenced by landscapes, poems and literature from Latin America. She presents her compositions arranged for a 15-piece ensemble, which includes a rhythm section, strings and woodwinds, featuring a fusion of contemporary orchestral arrangements with experimentation and improvisation. After attending Berklee College of Music under the Latin American Tour Scholarship, she has been actively performing her original music in Boston, NYC, Chile and Argentina

Van Alexander

Born: May 2, 1915

Van Alexander (born Alexander Van Vliet Feldman) was an American bandleader, arranger and composer. Alexander led bands and arranged from high school, and studied composition in college. He landed a job selling arrangements to Chick Webb in the middle of the 1930s. One of these, "A-Tisket, A-Tasket", became a hit for Webb and Ella Fitzgerald, and subsequently became one of her signature tunes. Alexander later arranged other nursery rhymes for jazz performance, such as "Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" and "Got a Pebble in My Shoe". n the late 1930s Alexander formed his own band and played theaters into the 1940s
