Spurred on by a love of early Frank Zappa recordings and Denny Wilson memorabilia, Chris Teal took up drums and percussion at age 11 and began his career in school bands and orchestra. In August 2005, he participated in the School for Improvisational Music workshop in New York City where he collaborated with a variety of celebrated musicians, including Ben Street and Jason Moran. A 2005 graduate of Whitworth College’s music program, Chris can currently be seen performing with the Tom Molter Big Band, Don Goodwin and Freefire, Jigsaw Republic, James Pants and the jazz trio Localized Tenderness
