MUSICIAN Born:

Chad Lawson

What started as an inspiration by Sha-na-na as a child, to debuting at #1 on iTunes Classical with his 2014 release, The Chopin Variations, Chad Lawson has accomplished much in between. While in school at the Berklee College of Music, Chad began his career as a studio musician. After his studies at Berklee, he decided to go on tour with Babik Reinhardt (son of legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt). Following his stint on the road, Chad formed the Chad Lawson Trio. They released their self-titled debut album in 1997 followed by Dear Dorothy; The Oz Sessions (jazz trio arrangements of The Wizard of Oz) in 2002 and Unforeseen two years later

Chad Lawson Trio: Dear Dorothy: The OZ Sessions

Read "Dear Dorothy: The OZ Sessions" reviewed by Glenn Astarita

Summit Records has evolved into one of the finer jazz record labels. They're proponents of worthy, yet at times lesser-known talent, while also recruiting more familiar names for a variety of projects. Here, the Chad Lawson (piano) Trio morph tunes from The Wizard of Oz into mainstream jazz arrangements. The musicians have designed a pleasant outing, ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
