Carol Leven and Nick Moran formed a duo in 2014. Nick loved jazz standards, but rediscovered them through their lyrics—these are songs meant to be sung. Carol loved jazz standards, but had an urge to sing the pop, rock, and R&B songs she grew up listening to—songs meant to be kept alive through new interpretations. So with few musical boundaries they started playing. By using a seven-string guitar and a live looper, Nick could sound like two guitars and a bass. Bringing brushes and snare, shakers, and frame drum into the mix, Carol could sound like, well, a singer playing percussion.
