Christopher Mees
Christopher Mees began studying the bass at age nineteen. His first teachers were Robert Magnusson and Bertram Turetzky in San Diego, California. In California, Chris performed extensively within the jazz scene and occasionally took lessons from John Clayton. Chris’ musical studies in California led him to Oberlin Conservatory, where he is now in his second year studying jazz bass with Peter Dominguez. While at Oberlin, Chris has worked and studied with the legendary Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart, Dan Wall, and Jamey Haddad. Chris’ career as a student in Oberlin has also given him the opportunity to perform in such great New York venues as The Lenox Lounge, Sweet Rhythm and Minton’s Playhouse

Ed Howard currently resides in New York City and is a highly sought after bassist. Ed has also had a long-standing tenure with the Roy Haynes Quartet. Since joining Mr. Haynes in 1982, Ed has had the opportunity to tour extensively and record three CD's with this grand master of the drums. Ed also sights Clifford Jordan as a major influence in his musical development. He was the bassist in Mr. Jordan's quartet from 1983 to 1992. Charles Gambetta earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in orchestral conducting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was the assistant conductor of the University Symphony Orchestra from 1996-98. He returned to conduct the University Orchestra in a performance of Enescu's Rumanian Rhapsody in A Major, Op. 11, No. 1 on May 1, 2000 as winner of the 2000 UNCG Conducting Competition and has since appeared as guest conductor with the Royal Conservatory Festival Orchestra of Toronto in summer 2001 and 2002. Gambetta began his conducting studies with Ansel Brusilow in 1974 at the University of North Texas where he was also Associate Conductor and Arranger for the One O'clock Lab Band

Matt Brewer is one of the world’s premier bassists. He was born April 20, 1983, in Oklahoma City but spent most of his youth in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born into a musical family, Matt was surrounded by music from an early age, both his father and grandfather being jazz musicians, and his mother an avid music lover and radio DJ (who, before Matt was born, would play classic jazz albums for him). He started playing drums at age 3, learning rudiments on a small practice pad, but didn’t take music seriously until the age of ten, when he found the bass during a summer program at the Interlochen Center for the Arts.
