Bishu Chattopadhyay

Bishu Chattopadhyay is a New York City musician and a band leader, has collaborated as a jazz bassist with Rita Sahai and many known jazz performers in the San Francisco Bay area and in New York City. Bishu established two bands: ‘Bengal and Beyond’ and ‘Time is Now not Money’ in San Francisco, where he performed. Mr. Chattopadhyay currently leads two bands in New York City: ‘Bishu Chattopadhyay All Stars’ and ‘BC Jazz Now.’
Bishu Chattopadhyay was born in Kolkata, India and is a founding member of the legendary band Moheener Ghoraguli

Max Johnson

Described as “an intrepid composer, architect of sound and beast of the bass...” (Brad Cohan, NYC Jazz Record) composer-bassist Max Johnson creates complex worlds of sound, challenging his listeners to engage deeply and be rewarded with an experience always crafted with love, care, and clarity. With seventeen albums as a leader and more than two thousand concerts internationally with artists like Anthony Braxton, Mary Halvorson, Tyshawn Sorey, John Zorn, and Mivos Quartet, Johnson brings a wild energy and excitement. Johnson currently teaches music theory at Brooklyn College and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.

Phil Ravita
One of the Mid-Atlantic’s most versatile and sought after bassists, Phil Ravita leads Ravita Jazz and appears with many other jazz and classical ensembles and orchestras. He is also a college professor and host of a weekly radio program on WMTB 89.9 FM. Tune in Mondays at 7 PM EST.
He has shared the stage with such jazz greats as Jimmy Heath, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi and Ruby Glover, appearing in countless clubs, concert halls and festivals. He can be heard on numerous recordings and recently won critical acclaim for his work with Grasso-Ravita Jazz Ensemble and the group’s highly praised 2021 recording, Jagged Spaces.

Luico Hopper

Luico Hopper (pronounced" Lou-e-co) grew up in Virginia to a musical family. His father played the guitar and both parents sang in the church choir. Luico's first instrument was the clarinet that he played throughout high school. He developed interest in the guitar around the age of twelve and taught himself to play after being inspired by his father's musicianship. He started playing the electric and acoustic bass during his freshman year in college. Hopper joined the Norfolk State College Jazz Ensemble remaining part of this group until graduating in 1974 with a B.A. in Sociology. After college, Hopper moved to New York City to become a professional musician

Julian Mekler

Julián Mekler is a composer and bassist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Graduated with a Jazz Degree from Manuel de Falla Conservatory, he is an educator currently working in the National University of Arts (UNA-DAM). 2020 Honorary Mention in the National Prizes for the Sciences and the Arts. He participated three times in Centro Cultural Kirchner's Jazz Residencies program where he worked alongside great masters. He is the founder of Buenos Aires based independent record label Isla Desierta Discos, on which he released his two albums, Invasión! (2019) and Vida Útil (2023)

In addition to this, he has played on many albums, been a band member for a television show produced by Kelsey Grammer, and played as a member of the broadway shows “Jersey Boys”, “Hadestown”, and “Summer.” He is currently a member of The Brianna Thomas Band, Frank Lacy Sextet, and leads his own group along side members Stacy Dillard, Jeremy “Bean” Clemons, and Craig Magnano
