Sam Trapchak was born in 1984 in Livonia, Michigan. When he expressed an interest in music his father dissuaded him from the electric guitar with these words of wisdom: “Everyone always needs a bass player.” From there, Sam was nurtured by the rich musical tradition of Detroit. He took up the double bass after being accepted into the jazz studies program at Wayne State University in Detroit. He won successive scholarships while enrolled there, and freelanced throughout the Metro-Detroit/Windsor area. Jvera
Born:
Butterfly José Vera certainly has an impressive cirriculum. This bass player from Palma Majorca has accompanied some of the most well known artists of the Spanish peninsula (Deborah Carter, Revólver, Luis E.Aute, Carlos Núñez, Antonio Vega, Ismael Serrano, Sergio Dalma, Concha Buika, Passion Vega…) Yet with the release of his new album “Butterfly”, the moment has arrived for him to take a well deserved front role. This is not his first solo album. Already with “Concepts” (Schoot Records, 2006) he introduced us to his musical style and vision, surrounded by old friends of pedigree, some of whom collaborate once again on this new album: Antonio Serrano and Jorge Pardo again share their great mastery, alongside the noted contributions of Santi Ibarretxe or Manuel Machado who, amongst many, are more than worth a mention. The voice of each musician takes its place in the relaxed atmosphere of the music, where groove and talent are in abundance and overflowing with strength and substance
