Signel-Z Collaborative Jazz Performance Group Story: Steve is lover of progressive and eclectic jazz and the son of Gene Ignelzi, a Julliard-trained musician who performed in New York during the hay day of swing, bop and Latin jazz. Steve inherited a deep-seated love of jazz, evocative composition and virtuosic musical performance from Gene and has formed Signel-Z to explore the confluence of jazz with other great elements of music. Steve’s son, Tate, is the next generation of reverent musical performer and brings a new spark to the sound and the energy. The music includes a high level of improvisation, expression from each musician, and is meant to spark interest, emotion, fun and love in the audience. Since graduating from the BA (HONS) Degree in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music , he has worked with some of the biggest names in British and International jazz such as Julian Siegel, Stu Mccallum (Cinematic Orchestra), Kit Downes, Dennis Rollins, Alex Munk, Eddie Hick, Jamil Sheriff and Joel Purnell. A native of Cameroon, Francis Mbappe is an unstoppable natural musician who is releasing his third album under his name, after having graced the stage with musical greats such as Herbie Hancock, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Ashanti Tokoto, Francois Louga, and Ernesto Djedje. By the age of nineteen Mbappe was bass player and musical director for Manu Dibango’s band, with whom he toured extensively from 1982 until 1990. He resides permanently in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and children.
