Signel-Z Collaborative Jazz Performance Group Story: Steve is lover of progressive and eclectic jazz and the son of Gene Ignelzi, a Julliard-trained musician who performed in New York during the hay day of swing, bop and Latin jazz. Steve inherited a deep-seated love of jazz, evocative composition and virtuosic musical performance from Gene and has formed Signel-Z to explore the confluence of jazz with other great elements of music. Steve’s son, Tate, is the next generation of reverent musical performer and brings a new spark to the sound and the energy. The music includes a high level of improvisation, expression from each musician, and is meant to spark interest, emotion, fun and love in the audience. The group hopes to satisfy a growing audience with powerfully evocative music

John Marley

Born: January 6, 1985

Performing over 250 gigs a year, John Marley is one of the busiest and most in demand bass players in the UK. Since graduating from the BA (HONS) Degree in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music , he has worked with some of the biggest names in British and International jazz such as Julian Siegel, Stu Mccallum (Cinematic Orchestra), Kit Downes, Dennis Rollins, Alex Munk, Eddie Hick, Jamil Sheriff and Joel Purnell. John is a regular member of many bands including the Kate Peters Septet, The Hitmen and Songs of the Riding's which is led by the award winning saxophonist, Matt Anderson. He is also a respected teacher and arranger, having done arrangements for many bands and musicians across the country

A native of Cameroon, Francis Mbappe is an unstoppable natural musician who is releasing his third album under his name, after having graced the stage with musical greats such as Herbie Hancock, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Ashanti Tokoto, Francois Louga, and Ernesto Djedje. By the age of nineteen Mbappe was bass player and musical director for Manu Dibango’s band, with whom he toured extensively from 1982 until 1990. He appears on the albums “Surtension”, “Abele Dance”, “Baobab Sunset” and the renowned “Waka Africa” release, which also features Peter Gabriel, Youssou Ndour, Salif Keita, and King Sunny Ade. Dave Edwards is a New York–area musical director and multi-instrumentalist who appears to move effortlessly between jazz, rock, classical, and worship music. Decades of ensemble experience and deep study have made him a rare performer and collaborator on upright and electric bass, drums, piano, acoustic guitar, and voice - especially as a worship leader.

He has performed or recorded with Gloria Gaynor, KANSAS, the Smithsonian Chamber Players, The Ed Palermo (Frank Zappa) Big Band, John Patitucci, Oz Noy, Mike Stern, and Randy Brecker, with appearances at Lincoln Center, Birdland, CBGB’s, the White House, and the United Nations.

Maciej Trifonidis

Maciej Trifonidis ( born february 24. 1974 in Warsaw). Composer, musician, publisher, producer and sound engineer. Through his music he travels across a world of sounds all the time retaining his own unique style and musical language. He writes for big orchestral ensembles, jazz combos, trios, duets and more. The music he creates is always energetic, full of formal experimentation and exciting compositional elements. Apart from the sophisticated jazz themes we can experience courageous sonic experiments, wild free improvisations and symphonic moods reminiscent of movie soundtracks with elements of jazz, contemporary composition, ethno and world music

Mike Werner aka Guy Wonder

Guy Wonder, also frequently known as Mike Werner, plays bass and is co-founder (with Sonny Moon) of the jazz/rock mashup group Nutty. As Mike Werner, he composes and performs in the group Mike Werner's Inventory. A long-time habitue of the LA club scene, from the New Wave days to the present. Bassist, composer, arranger, orchestrator, etc.

Mike Hawkins

Michael Hawkins is a versatile and well-rounded virtuoso Jazz bassist, playing and writing in multiple sub-genres and on both acoustic and electric bass. Hawkins has recorded and toured extensively with acclaimed pianist Cyrus Chestnut who sites Hawkins as a member of his primary group (http://www.cyruschestnut.net/frames/bio_frame.html). He resides permanently in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and children. He performs frequently with several local groups and artists, such as Sketches, under the leadership of guitarist Gene Pendleton. As of this writing, he recently performed in the 2014 Richmond Jazz Festival with local trumpet player Victor Haskins.
