Mark Hagan
“Some of my earliest memories are of going to classical concerts with my parents. Then around the age of ten I heard the playing of a local bassist James Jameson and there was no turning back. From Motown it did not take long before I was listening to jazz. I remember walking to elementary school in the morning with this be-bop solo going on in my head and it would still be there when I got home at the end of the day”.
After high school, where Mark had gained a reputation as a solid bassist and composer, he received a call to go on the road with a band touring the Midwest for a year. At the end of the tour he enrolled at The Berklee College Of Music where he earned a Bachelors degree in composition with honors while also working throughout the Boston area as a freelance bassist. After graduation he spent a year working in show bands aboard a number of cruise ships sailing throughout the globe. Mark then continued his education with a partial scholarship to do graduate studies in bass with Miroslav Vitous at New England Conservatory. It was at this time that he started getting calls to play in New York and decided to continue his graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Soon he was contracted to write music for the Nickelodeon TV. show Eureka's Castle while also substituting as a bassist in Broadway pit orchestras.
He has been performing throughout the NYC area in clubs, concerts and shows on and off Broadway as well as traveling through out the world for various tours.
He is currently under contract with Engine Studios where his first solo recording project “The Nuvo Trio” was recently released.
He currently resides fifteen miles north of Manhattan in the village of Nyack in the Hudson Valley.
