Marco Marzola

M. Marzola's artistic formation started in the conservatory of Ferrara. In 1982 he moved to New York where he studied with Barry Harris and acustic bass with Buster Williams. Captured by Jazz he frequentied the clubs of Harlem and the Village collaborating with important representatives of the Afro-American music. He also became interested in ethnic music. From multiple experience he gained the capacity to adapt to different musical context. Jimmy Lovelace, Tommy Tarantine, Jimmy Owens, Paul Jeffrey, Craig Handy, Betty Carter, Harold Land, George Cables, Steve Turre, Tommy Campbell, John Hics, Tony Scott, Bruce Forman, Jimmy Cobb, Jessy Davis, John Clark, Sherman Irby, James Zollar, Chuck McPherson, Ed Cherry, Giulio Capiozzo, Flavio Boltro, Carlo Atti, Stefano Bollani, Giancarlo Bianchetti, Mauro Grossi, Pietro Tonolo, Luciano Titi, Roberto Rossi, Emanuele Cisi, Paolo Mappa, Marco Tamburini, Oscar Zenari, Nico Menci, Max Chiarella, Fabrizio Bosso, Alessamdro Minetto. Andre Nendza

Double-bass player and composer André Nendza makes his way with uncompromising determination, always fully committed to his music. Currently, Nendzas’ focus includes the development of his own projects (André Nendza Quartet, the collective band Lemke-Nendza-Hillmann, the electro-acoustic ensemble A.tronic and a duo with famous German saxophonist Angelika Niescier). In addition, he works as a sideperson with bands like the “Philipp van Endert Trio”. In 2000 he founded his own crecycle.music label, which now cooperates with jazzsick records. André Nendzas work is documented on nearly 50 CDs (11 as a leader), numerous radio broadcasts/TV productions and is also featured in all important German Jazz media efforts. He had the pleasure of working with musicians like Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Rick Margitza, Paolo Fresu, Dominique Pifarély, Charlie Mariano, Rob van den Broeck, Adrian Mears, Alex Acuña, Zoltan Lantos, Marc Bassey, Dave Pike, Ramesh Shotham. As the head of "Vorstudium Jazz" at the "Offene Jazz Haus Schule, Cologne", Nendza is also a well known teacher

Kevin “Brandino” Brandon is a seven-time Grammy-awarded Producer, Composer, Arranger and Bassist. His latest Grammy nomination was for the album Singularity by Robby Krieger of the Doors, nominated Best Pop Instrumental Album of the Year 2011. Among other high-profile projects last year, Brandino worked on the December 14, 2010 release of Michael Jackson’s new album entitled Michael (expected to be a big seller in 2011). Though based in Los Angeles, Brandino is no stranger to the rest of the country’s musical hotbeds, including a recent trip to New York in November to participate in a Warwick Family Photo shoot with his friends Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins. Warwick makes basses by which all other brands are measured, and the “Warwick Family” is a carefully selected group.

Dave Lobenstein

Educator/Jazz Bassist Dave Lobenstein: (BM, Music Education, SUNY Fredonia) and (MFA, Jazz Bass Performance, California Institute of the Arts), currently teaches orchestra for the Long Beach Public School System, and is Co-Director of Adelphi University's Jazz Enrichment Program. Dave has been very involved around the NYC area as a jazz clinician. He has conducted workshops at local colleges and high schools which focus on beginning improvisation and introduction to the jazz repertoire. Most recently, Dave organized and led Adelphi University's "Jazz Workshop for High School Students" which uniquely took place at the well known Manhattan jazz club, Detour. As a performer, Dave has worked with a variety of musical styles

New York's own Kim Clarke is a multifaceted bassist, composer, website developer and educator. She performs alternately on the Acoustic Bass, Electric Upright and four and five-stringed Electric Bass Guitar as the situation demands. Her electric Bass playing has been described as soulful, funky, rich & tight. She hold B.A.'s in Communications and Music from City College and Long Island University respectively, and is a 3- time recipient of the coveted N E A Jazz Study Fellowship. Ms Clarke is also a long-time student of the Barry Harris Workshop  and member of Harris' Jazz Cultural Theatre's house band for the famed Art Blakey Breakfast Jam

Warren L Jones III

Born:

Warren Jones has spent more than 25 years as a composer, clinician and teacher. He has performed and recorded with national and local musicians and entertainers in the Valley of the Sun since 1980. A graduate of the Arizona State University School of Music in 1986, he has taught in high schools, community colleges and at the ASU Jazz Dept. He appears with both local and national artists on more than 20 CDs and DVDs. Mr. Jones has composed over 30 pieces of music for various sized ensembles. His compositions have been performed in the southwest and western United States and can be heard on recordings released locally and internationally. He was a founding member of the award winning Craig Render Quartet in the 1980's and has been mentioned in Downbeat magazine as a musician to be noticed in Arizona. Jones has been and is a leader of several jazz ensembles, including the Trio 2000 and the Quartetto del Sol. He can be heard on many recent recording projects, including the Phoenix Jazz Quartet, releases by the Keith Greko Trio, Live at Inspirations with Bob Kindred and Chuck Marohnic, and the Bob Ravenscroft Trio's, Live at Taliesen West. A recent recording and performance project is titled EARWORM, and features creative musicians interpreting original compositions and jazz "standards". Matt Kendrick

Composer/Double Bassist Matt Kendrick is a North Carolina native, born April 1st 1957 in Greenville, N.C. His family moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. in 1961, where he grew up, graduated from High School and attended The North Carolina School of the Arts for three years. He then moved to New York City in 1977 and stayed for four years playing in a multitude of Avant-Garde situations.He considers his time there a great education. After New York it was on to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for studies with Jazz educator, Jerry Coker and a stint in the Knoxville Symphony Bass section. Then it was back home to Winston-Salem where he has been since 1981

Sam Sherry

Sam was born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Hall High School. As a youth he was fortunate to study with Leland Tolo and to participate in several master-classes with Gary Karr. Sam also began traveling to New York City to study jazz playing with Michael Moore, a relationship which continued over the course of five years.

Sam attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston from 1979 through 1981 as a Jazz Studies major and also joined the NEC Symphony Orchestra. At NEC, he studied extensively with Jaki Byard and with Jimmy Guiffre, George Russell, Joe Maneri and Tom McKinley.
