The first permanent Big Band in Barcelona The aim of the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra is to bring jazz closer to the general public, respecting the accuracy and proximity typical of the genre. The BJO combines tradition and innovation, merging a classic repertoire - Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones, Dizzy Gillespie - with a great variety of contemporary composers and arrangers. The great musicians who accompany the orchestra and the excellent combination of repertoires make this band approachable to both jazz lovers (either classical or modern) and to people who have never listened to jazz before, and even to children, as we are working to introduce jazz in schools.
