Andy Milne and Gregoire Maret are a groundbreaking duo, made of rising harmonica star Gregoire Maret, who has played with everyone from Pat Metheny and Jimmy Scott to George Benson and Cassandra Wilson, and pianist Andy Milne, one of the most talented musicians to emerge from Steve Coleman's M-Base collective. Grégoire Maret Before he even hit 30 years of age, Grégoire Maret became the most sought after harmonica player behind legends Toots Thielemans and Stevie Wonder. Influenced by both, Maret has managed to find his own voice on the instrument. His capability to play almost anything has created a steady flow of collaboration with musicians from the jazz, pop, rock, funk & R&B worlds, who call upon Maret's mastery to add his unique sound. Born May 13, 1975 in Geneva, Switzerland to a Swiss father and American mother, Maret began his musical career as a harmonica player at age 17

Tippo is an electro-acoustic industrial jazz ensemble formed by David B. Leikam in late 2006 after graduating from Wadada Leo Smith's Music Performer / Composer MFA degree program at CalArts. Tippo played their debut performance on 13.06.2007 at KZSU 90.1FM followed by a double billing performance at the 2007 CalArts Northern California Alumni Showcase at the Cowell Theatre, Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, USA on June 16th and 17th, 2007. David B. Leikam had played with these musicians in various other formations before the creation of Tippo; with Areni Agbabian on piano / voice since late 2004 with their duet audio project Agbabian / Leikam, with Zachary Morris on drums(et) with various improvisational music performance since 2005 at CalArts including the post-CalArts formation of the San Francisco Bay Area based band, 'z_bug' in late 2006

Supersilent

Supersilent is, in a sense, the flagship band of Rune Grammofon, and seems to embody the label’s manifesto. Supersilent was formed by the alliance of an existing improvisation group called Veslefrekk with ten years of playing history behind them. They played together for the first time, without any prior rehearsal, at the Bergen Jazz Festival in 1997 and immediately made headlines. The musical success of the experiment convinced the participants that this had to be a permanent group, and they went into the studio to play many hours of non-stop improvisation from which their debut triple album, “Supersilent 1-3”, was ultimately drawn

Interoceanico 3

Interoceaico means inter-oceanic. Interoceaico 3 is a unique blend of three musicians from Japan and Argentina.The group was formed in Boston, MA 2002 by a composer and guitarist, Hiroya Tsukamoto from Kyoto, Japan. They have performed many concerts throughout the Boston and New York area including several appearances at The Berklee Performance Center(Boston, MA), Ryles Jazz Club(Cambridge, MA) and Satalla (New York, NY). They had successful tours to Japan( November 2004) and Korea/Japan (August 2005). They are a musical ensemble different than most of their contemporaries. Interoceanico's music is a cornucopia of lush harmonies, lyrical melodies, driving rhythms and the first class arrangements that form their original music

Northwoods Improvisers

Northwoods Improvisers first came together in 1976. Early versions of the band played totally collective electro-acoustic improvised music. Around 1980 the band switched to an all acoustic instrumentation which has remained to this day. Mike Gilmore and Mike Johnston were founding members of the ensemble. Nick Ashton joined in 1986.

In the 1980's the band published several homemade cassette tapes of various live performances. in 1987 the band played several gigs with Canadian saxophonist (and Coda Magazine editor) Bill Smith.

In 1994 Northwoods released their 1st recording Fog and Fire on Trevor Watts Arc label. In 1996 Northwoods began recording on the Michigan based Entropy Stereo label owned by violinist Mike Khoury.

Robert Rodriguez Pianist/Composer, Robert Rodriguez was born on January 11, 1978 in New York City. Inspired by his father who is a drummer, Robert began to pursue music from a very early age. Robert studied piano and percussion at the New World School of The Arts and proceeded to achieve his bachelor's of music from the University of Miami. Through New world School of The Arts and the University of Miami, he was given the opportunity to perform with, Jerry Bergonzi, Jon Faddis, Kenny Weeler, and Maria Schneider. Robert has worked professionally with Ira Sullivan, Giovanni Hidalgo, Ed Calle, Charlie Haden, Arturo Sandoval, Ray Barretto, Roy Haynes, Ignacio Berroa, David Sanchez, Richard Bona and has recorded alongside Arturo Sandoval, Chick Corea, Dave Samuels, and Claudio Roditti on a live concert titled Jam Miami

Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet

The Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet is the work of a group of saxophonists who link together disparate styles and present the results with artistry and joy. The BRSQ has been likened to the Kronos String Quartet because of their eclectic repertoire and accessibility. The Broken Reeders have a variety of thematically based programs and they keep coming up with new ones. The Magic Poetry Band

M.L. Liebler & The Magic Poetry Band is the brainchild of Wayne State University professor (and St. Clair Shores, Michigan's first Poet Laureate) M.L. Liebler. Over the last twenty plus years, M.L. has combined his insightful, urban poetry with the funky tones of modern jazz, resulting in a perfect elision of sound and vision. Along with M.L. is Griot Galaxy saxophonist Faruq Z. Bey, Detroit Artist Workshop guitarist Ron English, road-tested bass player and album producer Jef Reynolds (Leslie Gore band, Alex Chilton, Fats Domino, The Platters, and others) and resident drummer and gamesman Bill Hulet.
