Los Muñequitos de Matanzas
os Muñequitos de Matanzas - Cuban Rumberos In the first days of October 1952 a group of young rumberos found themselves after work enjoying their evening's rest Los in the bar “El Gallo” on the corner of Matanzas and Daoiz Streets in the Barrio of La Marina in the city of Matanzas. Over drinks, they heard the chords of a son by Arsenio Rodriguez on the bar's Victrola. Inspired by the rhythm and the contagious melody, they began to play percussion on the counter, on the glasses and on the bottles, accompanying Arsenio and his group. The bar's other customers, as well as passers-by, stopped to listen and to the astonishment of the young men they received their first applause ”” applause that 40 years later they continue to receive. In the rush of enthusiasm someone said: Why don't we form a musical group to entertain on Sundays and holidays at fiestas and barrio dances? Someone else knew a musician-composer-arranger who would have the experience to pull the group together: Florencio Calle Peraza (Catalino), who lived in a solar on Salamanca Street between Matanzas and Jovellanos in that same barrio of La Marina. They marched over to Catalino's place

MOSÏK
Active since:
MOSÏK plays world jazz based on the ideas of the forgotten German music philosopher Trude Tulpenthal. In times of increasing acoustic distraction and musical randomness, the project goes on the trail of this fictional character whose lifelong objective was to seek after intersections between established traditions and contemporary experiments in music. Currently, MOSÏK concentrates primarily on the main subject of Thulpenthals’s early research, the so-called »Jazz Manouche« or »Gypsy Jazz«, whose pioneer Django Reinhardt (1910–1953) is also known as the founder of a first distinct jazz genre from Europe

Traveling Wilburys
Active since:
They were the first of the 'Super' groups combining stars of the musical world, and genuine friends, who had each achieved fame with their own musical talents. The Traveling Wilburys were formed in 1988 and consisted of 5 members:
Bob Dylan -Lucky Wilbury (Boo Wilbury)
Jeff Lynne - Otis Wilbury (Clayton Wilbury)
Tom Petty - Charlie T. Jr.(Muddy Wilbury)
Roy Orbison- Lefty Wilbury
And
George Harrison - Nelson Wilbury (Spike Wilbury)
The Traveling Wilburys began after George's comeback album; "Cloud Nine" was completed, George had to create a bonus track for the European twelve inch version of 'When We Was Fab'. Since Jeff Lynne helped in the creation of George's album, he postponed his other projects: work on Roy Orbison's album "Mystery Girl", and work on tracks for Tom Petty. The two Englishmen discussed this over lunch in L.A. That Roy was so well versed in the Monty Python genre of British comedy. George was delighted when Roy volunteered to sing with him on the extra track.

Marty Isenberg
Born:
The Marty Isenberg Big Band is a New York-based group that breathes new life into the tradition of independent big bands. Skillfully juggling styles, Marty Isenberg’s compositions have all the layered emotions of a symphonic composer with the gritty cleverness of an alternative rocker. The band was formed in 2006 by a frustrated undergraduate at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, whose dwindling composition program failed to offer him the performance opportunities he though were necessary in the development of a composer. Not rounding up the typical high profile players at the New School, Marty sought players who thought less rigidly about music, and would share his passion and vision for a large ensemble that played without boundaries

Atomic
Atomic comes this close to being a Scandinavian free jazz supergroup. It allies the top line of Fire House and the Fredrik Noren Band (trumpeter Magnus Broo and saxophonist Fredrik Ljungkvist) and the rhythm section from Element (pianist Havard Wiik), bassist Ingebrigt Haker Flaten, and drummer Paal Nilssen-Love. Formed in reaction to the ECM-style of modern jazz that came to equal "Scandinavian jazz" in the minds of music fans worldwide, the group proposes a modernized take on power jazz, drawing from American Fire Music (Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman) and '60s European free improv (Peter Brötzmann's Machine Gun).

Genesis
One of the most successful rock acts of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Genesis enjoyed a longevity exceeded only by the likes of the Rolling Stones and the Kinks, in the process providing a launching pad for the superstardom of members Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins.
The group had its roots in the Garden Wall, a band founded by 15-year-olds Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Johnny Trapman, Chris Stewart and Rivers Job in 1965 at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, where fellow students Anthony Phillips, Robert Tyrell, Rivers Job, Michael Coleman and Richard McPhaeil were members of another group called Anon. Mike Rutherford was in The Climax, with Chris Stewart (drums), Chris Pigott (bass guitar), Duncan James (lead guitar) and Tim Hobart (vocals). The Scarlet and Black group included Toby Ward (drums), Guy Ross-Lowe (bass guitar), Michael Slack (piano), Mark Weeks (piano and guitar), Richard Apley (saxophone), Andrew Bruce (trombone) and Paul Gabriel (vocals). The groups initially merged out of expediency as the older members of each graduated; Gabriel, Banks, Rutherford, Phillips, and drummer Chris Stewart soon joined together as the New Anon, and recorded a six-song demo featuring songs primarily written by Rutherford and Phillips. The Charterhouse connection worked in their favor when an ex-student, recording artist and producer Jonathan King, heard the tape and arranged for the group to continue working in the studio, developing their sound. It was also King who renamed the band Genesis.

Coryell, Auger, Sample Trio
In July of 2007, while doing a gig with Julian's father Larry Coryell, Karma and Julian were introduced minutes before walking onstage together. It was quite a special evening and a strong connection was made. After the show they spoke about doing something together and Nick's name was brought up. In early August they all got together for the first time and wrote an album in four hours. After a day of getting sounds, CAST! went into Julian's studio in Venice and spent three days cutting the album. The strategy was simple: Play down the list, get lunch, do it again. No headphones were used in the making of the record
