Ukz
It may be a fitting instance of fortuity that the initials of Aaron, Trey, Eddie, Alex, and Marco happen to spell A-TEAM… because, as rock virtuosos, that's exactly what they are: an A-team of "musicians' musicians," and a likely 2008 successor to the great virtuoso bands of the past - Mahavishnu Orchestra, Zappa and The Mothers, King Crimson and, of course, UK.
Returning from a self-imposed 27-year retirement from band and touring activity, keyboardist/electric violinist and UK co-founder, Eddie Jobson, set out to find the same caliber of next-generation musicians for the new UKZ project that would equal or surpass the talents of his previous colleagues and collaborators - an already impressive list that includes Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, John Entwistle, Ian Anderson, Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio, Allan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin.
Jobson put together the ideal 'virtual band' by studying musicians' performances on YouTube and - given his renown among musicians worldwide - received instant acceptance from all of his first choices:
Aaron Lippert - a citizen of Belgium, but born and raised in New York - the former lead singer and songwriter for Columbia recording artists Expanding Man.
Trey Gunn - a Texas native, currently residing in Seattle - a ten-year veteran of King Crimson and the leading exponent of the Warr touch guitar.
Alex Machacek - from Vienna, Austria - an award-winning guitar prodigy and composer.
Marco Minnemann - from Hannover, Germany - a drumming phenomenon of unparalleled virtuosity.
Five exceptional musicians, all citizens of different countries, coming together in a digital collaboration over the internet to forge a new and innovative path - a musical A-team poised to raise the bar one more time.

The October Trio
The band was formed in late 2004 when its members were in Vancouver’s Capilano College Jazz Studies program, and it was hard to miss the chemistry between Evan Arntzen on saxophones, bassist Josh Cole, and drummer Dan Gaucher. Opportunity presented itself when the trio was offered a regular gig at rime, at that time east Vancouver’s creative music hub. The band recorded their first album, live at rime, using a minidisc player and two microphones. Their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Day In (Cellar Live), followed in July 2006. Co-produced by Canadian jazz icon Brad Turner, the album covers a broad musical spectrum, from the most intimate, subtle renderings to blistering grooves

label’s 70th anniversary with the release (CD & Digital) of Mosaic: A Celebration of
Blue Note Records, an eight-song collection of classic Blue Note repertoire re-
envisioned by The Blue Note 7, an all-star tribute band comprised of current jazz
luminaries.
The all-star septet includes:
pianist, musical director and current Blue Note
recording artist Bill Charlap with:
trumpeter Nicholas Payton
tenor saxophonist Ravi Coltrane
alto saxophonist/flutist Steve Wilson

Mosaic features new versions of jazz classics such as Thelonious Monk’s “Criss
Cross,” Herbie Hancock’s “Dolphin Dance,” McCoy Tyner’s “Search For Peace”
and Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers’ “Mosaic.” “We chose to record
compositions that would honor the label and its key players, whittling it down to

More arrangements of songs from the Blue Note library will be created for The
Blue Note 7 tour, which began on January 7 in Yakima, Washington, and
