Mary Halvorson/Jessica Pavone Duo

The Brooklyn-based duo of guitarist Mary Halvorson and violist Jessica Pavone draws from classical, jazz and folk traditions while experimenting with new forms. Together they explore improvisation and composition while utilizing amplification and electronic effects as well as acoustic presentation.

The group has performed regularly in New York City since 2002 at venues such as Roulette, Tonic, Barbes and The Stone. They have also appeared at several music festivals, including the Wels Unlimited Festival (Austria), The Other Half New, the Improvised and Otherwise Festival and The Vision Festival.

Branched out in 2004 from the Moscow Acoustic Architecture Studio, JOAN SILVER PIN (aka J.S.P.) naturally summed up the results of long-time collaboration between the Russia most prominent electronic, rock and jazz artists. The core band-members are: Alexander SENKO - a headmaster of the ensemble. Producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, he started his musical career as a guitarist in the beginning of the ‘90s with the free-jazz band THE 12TH DAY, and then joined the blues-rock group of the Russian singing duchess Olesja TROYANSKAYA. Nomo

NOMO’s roots are firmly planted in the fertile soil of African polyrhythm and American free jazz, and bandleader Elliot Bergman’s tracks draw inspiration from cultures and generations wildly different than his home setting. In many ways (at least geographically and sonically) NOMO are a distant relative of the TRIBE collective. Undoubtedly they carry the spirit of the legendary Detroit-label’s creative output. NOMO were signed to Ubiquity through interest in their little-known self-titled debut album, and on the back of an onslaught of persuasive emails from their fans (including Sam Valenti IV of Ghostly International fame) that the band puts on a must-see live show

Huntsville

Norway’s HUNTSVILLE delves into an adventurous crossbreed of rock, drones, country, jazz and electro-acoustic improvisation. Boston Weekly described their 2006 debut “for the middle class” on Rune Grammofon: «armed with a banjo, a double bass, a pedal steel, a bizarre tabla machine, shruti boxes and a fondness for freeing folk from its folk songs - from Santa Fe to Bombay.» Huntsville’s unexpected sounds and textures, allied with echoes of traditional genres in a radical new conceptual language have been labelled abstract drone Americana and yoga country. POW Ensemble

The computer group POW Ensemble was founded in 2001 by Dutch composer/saxophonist Luc Houtkamp, with the aim of exploring and expanding the musical potential of the computer.
Computer music is often thought of as incomprehensible sounds that nobody can understand, apart from some isolated nerds. A concert by the POW Ensemble is something completely different, however: here, ‘real’ music is being made! The musicians use improvisation, live processing, electronic and acoustic instruments such as oud and saxophones. The POW Ensemble can be regarded as the chamber ensemble of the 21st century, using computers as musical instruments.

Blue News is a high-energy rock trio with a unique original sound which is heavily influenced by the blues. The band has a "signature sound" (Mark Lush - MidwestBands.com) which remains true to the roots of American music while it also pushes the envelope to progressively reach new creative horizons.

Blue News was formed in a small town in the Midwest during the summer of 2005. The band has accomplished a lot in a relatively short time widely due to the group's unique original sound, professionalism, musicianship and perseverance

Godsticks

Godsticks are a unique progressive-rock band from South Wales, UK. Formed in 2006, their love of various musical styles including prog-rock, fusion, rock, and pop have been melded together to create their own style.

Initially a cover band performing complex progressive music, Godsticks then began to immerse themselves in song-writing and develop their own unique song formats - borne out of a desire to create song arrangements they wanted to hear, but that were never present in the music of their influences.

Haberdashery

Haberdashery is a genre defying acoustic ensemble based in Los Angeles, CA, known for their energetic, evocative and witty performances. Led by composer/bassist Brandon Turner, Haberdashery synthesizes their diverse and eclectic influences of Tango, Classical, Jazz, Folk, Gypsy, and French music with the precision of chamber ensemble; and expands upon those influences with the improvisational freedom of a jazz combo. Haberdashery’s versatile acoustic musicians, Gee Rabe- Accordion, Chris Luther- Violin , Dan Cole Guitar, and Brandon Turner- Double Bass provide a memorable range of timbres and textures. Starting as Brandon Turner’s graduate thesis project in 2008, Brandon enlisted the help of longtime friend Dan Cole and classmate Chris Luther. Needing an accordion player to complete the ensemble, Brandon posted an ad on craigslist and connected with Gee Rabe
