Lower Merion Jazz Combo

AKKU Quintet

Akku Quintet are a Swiss band based in Berne, from where they dispense a minimalistic jazz groove to great effect. Drummer Manuel Pasquinelli founded the band in 2010. Their first CD "Stages of Sleep" was released in May 2013 (Morpheus Records). The quintet then set the different phases of sleep to music. Their second Album "Molecules" was released in January 2015 (Morpheus Records) on CD and Vinyl. The piece "Deep Sleep 2" is featured on the compilation CD "Jazz made in Switzerland 2014/15" by SUISA and ProHelvetia. "Aeon“ is the third album, released in march 2017. Akku Quintet is touring regularly in Switzerland and abroad.

Making music since the age of seven, despite never acquiring musical education, May Fall has always aspired to educate himself. His longtime band Road to Evenmind has been a creative incubator where he and his friends matured together, both personally and musically, during more than two decades. Molly Tigre

Molly Tigre marries the rhythms and melodies of African music– especially the entrancing styles from Ethiopia and Mali- with a uniquely progressive and exploratory jazz sound. Featuring the compositions of Mitch Marcus and bassist Ezra Gale (Super Hi-Fi, Aphrodesia), the band also features saxophonist Chris Hiatt (Japonize Elephants), drummer Joe Abba, and percussionist Kolipe Camara. Memorably described as “Ethiopian funk drinks a progressive jazz cocktail at Miles Davis’ 1970’s loft party,” Molly Tigre’s polyrhythmic stew is music for the body and mind.

Broken Shadows

Named for one of Ornette Coleman’s most evocative compositions, this all-star project honors the Coleman legacy along with the music of Coleman’s fellow Fort Worth native reed players Dewey Redman and Julius Hemphill, featuring the wildly inventive saxophonists Tim Berne and Chris Speed, and the Bad Plus rhythm section of bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King. Debuting as a band in January 2017 for the Konceptions Music Series at Brooklyn’s Korzo, the band is a remarkably balanced vehicle for performing Coleman’s work, approaching it with fearless experimentation, deep grooves, and wicked humor

SOULDACITY a Jazz-Soul-Funk Fusion Quartet…creating a sound that tingles the musical senses of anyone who loves music! Darrin Lamont Byrd (vocals) and Boris Netsvetaev (keyboards) met at König der Löwen in 2012 and started doing music events together. Shortly after Boris introduced Darrin to Kai Bussenius (drums) and Phil Steen (bass) and a collaboration was born. As a Trio they are known as Hammer Klavier Trio. SOUL-AUDACITY combined to mean the boldness of soul, is where the name comes from. Since then it has evolved into Soul-Da- City (Soul of the City). From the start we were reinventing old classics such as my Funny Valentine, Aint No Sunshine when She’s Gone, and Nature Boy to name a few

Hr og Fru OrgelDuo Travels the World is the debut album of the danish band OrgelDuo. Armed with drums and a hammond organ, the masterminds Daniel Sommer and Simon Eskildsen want to guide listeners and readers in their new homemade universe. The two musicians have created an audio-visual experience which tells the story of two retired Danes from a small suburb. Under the names Hr & Fru OrganDuo they travel the world - going on adventures, getting themselves in hairy situations and meeting plenty of exciting people.. Simon Eskildsen and Daniel Sommer are both professional musicians with several critical acclimated albums behind them

John and Kelly Fumo with Fumosonic

Fumosonic is the culmination of 20+ years of marriage and collaboration between John and Kelly Fumo. The vision of these two musician/composers from Los Angeles, CA is a transformative musical experience that draws upon John’s jazz influences and Kelly’s love of music. The pair met while doing a recording session for singer Delaney Bramlett and had an instant connection. Their journey began with the first song they created called “Shut Up and Go Home!”, which showcases the unique formula of a heavy beat, Kelly’s strong vocals and some free jazz improvisation by John. John’s trumpet playing may be heavily influenced by Miles Davis and the free expressions of jazz music, but he has worked as a side man with the likes of Neil Diamond, James Brown, Beck and Brian Setzer
