Sharp Three

Sharp Three is a fresh new blend of the Oriental and the Western. Main sources of the music are jazz, rock, Balkan rhythms, and Western classical music; however the underlying inspiration of the music comes from soundscapes and reflections of Asia. GOH KUROSAWA: The mastermind and leader of Sharp Three, Goh started the group back in 2003. While it was not called Sharp Three at the time, Goh's musical journeys was taking him towards future collaboration with his brother, Kai. Nick Terry, a friend and school mate of Goh's had performed with him on many occasion, which made him the perfect drummer to work with. Goh's interest in variety of musical styles and various musical instruments, gave Sharp Three a sense of identity from day 1. Goh describes Sharp Three as Japanese Soundspaces, which is a perfect description of the music produced by the trio, taking its influences from Japanese folk tunes, as well as various types of Jazz and world music. Currently working on his second album, expect more creative ways for the trio to flourish from this do it yourself musician, as Goh handles the booking and PR for the trio. KAI KUROSAWA: Kai has been playing extreme basses in the trio for over 7 years

Initially, Gene took on the role of developing new repertoire while Chuck was the moving force in marketing, publishing and managing the group

Electric NHIC

Electric NHIC evolved from the high energy avant-funk of Mayhem Circus Electric, a signature grouping of the New Haven Improvisers Collective. MCE's well-received CD, Lubricity, was praised by the New Haven Advocate for its tight post funk grooves and called fun and relentlessly heavy creative jazz by Cadence magazine. Gapplegate Music compared it to Electric Miles Davis with the jagged angularity of classic Captain Beefheart and an obvious sense of fun. In support of Lubricity, MCE took the music to rock clubs like Toads Place, and festivals around New England in addition to top jazz and new music venues like Firehouse12 and the Buttonwood Tree

Defekt
Defekt was formed in Gothenburg in 2008 and includes four personal and unique musicians from Finland, Iceland and Norway. The members have played together for a long time before Defekt in bands like Laser, Kauhukakara, Heart of the Machine and Mia Mee. Their own composed music is a delicate mixture of jazz, surf, pop and rock, where the saxophone and guitar sounds are expanded with the use of effects. The melodies are often simple and singable although underneath are often complicated dense rhythms and counter melodies, making the music both simple and complex at the same time. In February 2009, during the bands tour in the Nordic countries, they went into a studio in Finland
