Moon Hooch

Moon Hooch captured the imaginations of thousands with its infamous stints busking on subway platforms and elsewhere in New York City: two sax players and a drummer whipping up furious, impromptu raves. This happened with such regularity at the Bedford Ave station in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that the band was banned from playing there by the NYPD. The trio’s subsequent tours with They Might Be Giants, Lotus, and Galactic as well as on their own have only broadened the band’s appeal. Wherever Moon Hooch plays, a dance party soon follows. Hornblow Recordings and Palmetto Records are now proud to release Moon Hooch’s second album, This Is Cave Music, on Sept 16, 2014

Fire! Orchestra

Fire! is a the Nordic experimental supergroup formed in 2009 by the core trio of Mats Gustafsson (sax), Johan Berthling (bass guitar) and Andreas Werlin (drums) who joined together to develop a fresh approach to improvised music drawing on influences from free jazz, psychedelic rock, and noise.

In 2010 the group joined forces with musician Jim O’Rourke and the four of them toured Japan together, leading to the release of Fire! with Jim O’Rourke. Australian multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi was the next collaborator, and they subsequently recorded the album Fire! with Oren Ambarchi.

Swamp Donkeys

The Swamp Donkeys are an extremely versatile group of young musicians who play traditional jass, blues, vaudeville, original music, modern jazz adaptations, and many other jazz and New Orleans-derived styles. They have beginnings and educations in the authentic, New Orleans, grassroots music scene, playing local festivals and second lines, then transitions into world-class music education programs, playing in concerts all over the globe. Their sound is enormously accessible with their frontmen, the Louis Armstrong-sounding, soulful and sweet James Williams, and the audience-wooing, banjo-strumming, song-writing extraordinaire Sam Friend

Negative Press Project

Negative Press Project (NPP) is a jazz collective based out of Oakland, CA. NPP is one of the latest singular ensembles to emerge from the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA. “Versatility abounds, and they always look for new ground to explore," says The Bay Bridged. Co-led by bassist Andrew Lion and pianist/keyboardist Ruthie Dineen, the expansive electro-acoustic ensemble always brings a supple textural palette to their largely original repertoire. While the group remains focused on their roots in improvisation and committed to deeply inspired composition, they are constantly exploring the intersections of jazz, chamber, and rock music

CEO Experiment

CEO Experiment is one of a kind Piano Trio which combines delicate atmospherics and highly creative improvisations, oscillating between almost every genre in Jazz. Elements of Post-bop and Contemporary Jazz are channeled through original compositions, serving as a vehicle for high energy inter playing. The music is thoughtful and inventive but also full of character, reflecting the different background and imagination of the players. “Pianist Leopoldo Osio, electric bassist Peter Erdei and drummer Cote Calmet, who make up CEO Experiment, are three of the most outstanding exponents of their respective instruments in a city whose burgeoning jazz/improvised music scene punches well above its weight. Acclaimed saxophonist Michael Buckley has recently joined forces with the trio to create a very unique and explosive sound

Since the formation of the band in 2009, “VC” has been busy crafting fresh and exciting original music by harnessing the skill and experience of it's members. Tapping into the vibrant creative energy of the incredible musical community surrounding them continues to result in a unique and powerful sound.     

Individually, the members of Vertical Current have traveled throughout the world, performing and recording with an array of celebrated and award winning artists including Roberta Flack, John Legend, Jazmine Sullivan, Jill Scott, The Roots, J Cole, Tye Tribbett and more. Not surprisingly, their interaction with such amazing artists and composers has further kindled Vertical Current’s passion to create and perform at the highest level.     

Ajoyo

Tricoolore

Explosive grooves meet nostalgic melodies that carry the flavour of tradition. Folk dance patterns combine with the African soul of New Orleans. A blending of musics of the world that creates a riot of colours and shades. Tricoolore’s music balances between the global sound of jazz and the maqams of the East, combining elements from different music styles to create a unique soundscape, where all sounds Greek in the end. Using special rhythmic forms and a strong element of improvisation and drawing inspiration from their Greek musical background, Angelos Doukas on keyboards, Vasilis Vasiliou on drums & percussion and Nikos Doukas on electric bass & loops break away from music stereotypes and follow their personal musical paths to take over the stage.

Clement Regert is a French guitarist from Paris. Since he moved to London in 2005, Clement has played in numerous venues and festivals in the UK such as The London jazz Festival, London Latin-Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott, 606 club, Pizza Express Soho, Cadogan Hall, Jazz café Posk, The Teignmouth and Marlborough Jazz festival or the Canary Wharf jazz Festival and collaborated with the likes of Lianne Carroll, Tim Garland, Binker Goldings, Natalie Williams, Dennis Rollins, Denys Baptiste, Mark Mondesir, Andrew McCormack, Robert Mitchell, Ross Stanley, Duncan Eagles or Jim Watson to name just a few. He founded Wild Card and recorded/produced his debut album "Mixity" in 2008. Clement Regert is Broadly travelling the same nu-Jazz path as Italy's Nicola Conte but takes a better solo." Ifa y Xango

Ifa y Xango are a number of musicians based in Belgium and Brazil. The group was founded in 2010 with all of the seven musicians in the band playing acoustic instruments and self- composed music at the time. Since releasing their debut album Abraham, which was elected as "Best debut album" by the New York City Jazz Record in 2013, they have expanded the band with three new members. The group is proud to present their upcoming second album “twice left handed \\ shavings”, inspired by the band's love for experimental electronic dance music, trance music and musique concrète
