The Forest Tuner

The Forest Tuner is a band established by a polish trombonist Szymon Białorucki. Its music falls outside the mainstream in rising jazz ensembles of today. The Forest Tuner is also a person, who derives happiness and peace from close listening to natural sounds of forests, mountains and rivers surrounding him. He creates melodies from what he hears and delivers them like stories, from which each listener can create their own, personal message. A debut album entitled “Tunes” released by SJ Records includes nine original compositions by Szymon Białorucki, being performed together with Mateusz Sobiechowski (piano), Adam Tadel (double bass) and Piotr Budniak (drums)

Cha Wa

From the funk-laced beats and bass-heavy sousaphone blasts that kick off their Grammy-nominated album “Spyboy” to the gritty warmth of singer Joseph Boudreaux’s voice, New Orleans brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit Cha Wa radiates the fiery energy of the best features of the city’s street culture. “Spyboy” was produced by Galactic’s Ben Ellman and features special guests Big Chief Monk Boudreaux (The Wild Magnolias, HBO’s Treme), Nigel Hall (Lettuce, Nth Power), and Danica Hart. — Cha Wa’s debut, “Funk N Feathers,” explored contemporary riffs on the traditional music J’Wan Boudreaux grew up singing alongside his grandfather, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, in the Golden Eagles Mardi Gras Indian tribe

Music Soup

Music Soup is a mainstay on the Greek jazz scene where they perform in all types of venues, from festivals and concert halls to jazz clubs, bars, and cafes. Evgenia and Nestor first met in 1998 when Nestor hired Evgenia to sing for a performance with his band. They continued playing together on and off for many years before they decided to form MUSIC SOUP in 2006.

According to Evgenia, “We came up with our group name because we wanted to play different jazz-oriented styles in different group settings. We wanted a name that was a bit light-hearted, because we’re serious about our music but we prefer to not take ourselves very seriously.”

Nuance Jazz Band

Nuance Jazz Band is an Armenian ethnic jazz sextet active since 2009. Founded and led by Garik Saribekyan, Nuance is one of the most recognised and ethnically sounding bands on Yerevan jazz stage. The current members of the band are Garik Saribekyan – piano and keyboard Arik Babayan – bass-guitar Albert Ordinyan – percussion Ruzanna Kirakosyan – qanun Artur Yeghiazaryan – saxophone Gevorg Charchyan – drums First time on stage in Alibi club in 2009 the band was recognized as one of the most innovative and ethnically sounding tune on the Yerevan jazz stage. Nuance Jazz Band has been a regular guest (2012-2015) at annual International Jazz Festival in Yerevan, held on April 30, on the International Jazz Day. In 2015 , Nuance won “The Best Jazz Composition of the Year” award by local radio station Radio Van, with their composition called “Zartonq”. In 2016 April, Nuance has performed a concert for the Aurora Prize nominees in Mezzo Classic House Club. Nuance Jazz Band performs compositions of Komitas, Tsovak Hambardzumyan alongside with Armenian folk music, jazz standards and compositions by Garik Saribekyan.

About the band… Having met whilst studying jazz & popular music at UKZN back in 2010, founder members of the band, brothers Devon & Brayden Hore (Drummer & Bassist) teamed up with talented guitarist Mthunzi Mchunu (Mo). The trio, with their shared passion for Ballads, Swing, Smooth & African jazz, as well as commercial/pop with a jazz element, have establishing themselves as a go-to-band in KZN under the name 5TH SEASON (meaning an exciting and new season in music), and have travelled the province since, exposing their talents at various functions consisting of mainly Private Functions, Corporate events & weddings

River Road Ramblers

The River Road Ramblers was formed in 2007 to provide a Dixieland Band alternative for the Tucson area. Today, the band has six musicians - cornet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, banjo and drums. We perform traditional New Orleans style Dixieland Jazz, as well as the West Coast Jazz style of the Lu Watters and his Yerba Buena Jazz Band. We are fortunate to have a large library of music which includes the books of Lu Watters.

ILL DOOTS is a collective of artists, educators, and activists based in Philadelphia; a group of individuals with different perspectives, from different places who want nothing more than to make music unfettered by the standards of the traditional and the prescriptions of the mainstream. What began in 2009 as a jam session, evolved into a dorm room mixtape, and eventually into a live band; several albums and tours later ILL DOOTS continues to hone their craft as performers and collaborators. ILL DOOTS is on a lifelong mission to change the way our communities respond to and value music, art, and life

Heat Index

Heat Index is a horn and guitar driven, contemporary jazz-funk group that offers a funky R&B showcase when the performance requires it. The band combines fresh original music with extraordinary fusion remakes, resulting in their wide audience appeal. As Wayne Henderson, the funky trombone playing leader of the Jazz Crusaders once said, “Just because it’s jazz, don’t mean you can’t dance”. Our music reflects that statement.
