Phat Phunktion

Madison, WI: As a group of University of Wisconsin-Madison music students who banded together in 1996, Phat Phunktion have built a loyal following of listeners throughout the United States and around the world. Combining the polish of Top 40 with the smooth feeling of 60’s soul and the raw groove of 70’s funk, Phat Phunktion is a nine-piece tour-de-force that are one of the most revered live acts of the past 20 years. In their hometown of Madison, they have been known to attract crowds of 5,000 people and regularly sell out wherever they perform. In 2003, Rolling Stone singled out Phat Phunktion as a “band on the rise.” During the same year, they won a Wisconsin Area Music Industry Award, or WAMI, for “Best R&B Band.” In May 2003, a panel of Billboard Magazine judges selected the band as one of six acts to perform at the DiscMakers’ Independent Music World Series, Midwest regional final, where they funked up the Elbo Room in Chicago

MATKOT

MATKOT is the sound of a female vocal quartet and a swinging jazz trio playing the unique arrangements of Israeli composer Rami Bar-David. Lush harmonies and Mediterranean grooves flavor Bar-David's hip compositional style, which deconstructs jazz standards and popular classics and re-arranges them into a distinctive new sound. Based in New York, MATKOT's music draws on both the jazz tradition and their Israeli roots to create a vibrant new repertoire.

Filtron M

Filtron M is a free-form project by pianist, keyboardist and composer Manu Koch. Exposed to numerous cultures and genres by touring, performing and recording with many leading figures in contemporary music for the past 25 years, Manu’s compositions and perspective define the direction of Filtron M. The sound evolves with contributions from a multi-national network of collaborators. The core idea of Filtron M goes back to Manu’s Boston years during the late 90’s when he led his first band that was influenced by the jazz-fusion group Weather Report and various Brazilian artists

Buffalo Jazz Octet

The Buffalo Jazz Octet has performed since 2011, combining the power and compositional intricacy of a large ensemble with the flexibility and dynamism of a small improvising combo. The octet collaborated with saxophone legend Joe Ford (of various McCoy Tyner bands) in 2015, and the band's members have worked individually with internationally noted musicians ranging from Buddy Morrow and Don Menza to Wadada Leo Smith and William Parker. The group's debut album, recorded live at Pausa Art House in May 2016, comes out April 20, 2017 on Cadence Jazz Records. The octet has appeared at the 2014 and 2015 Queen City Jazz Festivals, Villa Maria College, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, and Pausa Art House.

The Ditties

The Ditties is a vocal trio from Lithuania, formed by three young professional jazz singers and performing early swing vocal music from 1930 and 1940, which is best known for the close harmony and syncopated rhythm.Trio fascinates with its energy, delicacy and joyful mood. The harmony of the voices, playfulness, vintage clothes and special repertoire will bring you into the swinging decade. St. Paul & The Broken Bones

St. Paul and The Broken Bones is a six-piece soul band based in Birmingham, Alabama, United States, that formed in 2012. The band is composed of Paul Janeway (vocals), Browan Lollar (guitar), Jesse Phillips (bass), Andrew Lee (drums), Al Gamble (keys), and Allen Branstetter (trumpet). The band tours with both trombone and baritone saxophone as well. They have released two albums and two EPs while touring internationally.

Organic Noises's music is a creative combination of eastern european and armenian traditional themes with jazz, fusion, rock and progressive generes.
