Third Reel

A collaborative group brimming with creative potential, Third Reel consists of reed multi-instrumentalist Nicolas Masson, guitarist Roberto Pianca and drummer Emanuele Maniscalco, three committed improvisers and gifted writers, each with a distinct compositional signature. The contrasts, and a shared sensitivity for space, shape the group’s sonic identity. Each member of this Swiss-Italian trio is a bandleader is his own right but the cooperative Third Reel is a priority for all of them. Conceived as a trio without bass from the outset – “it means more responsibility for each player, as well as more risk-taking” – Third Reel went through various drummers until Pianca brought along Emanuele Maniscalco in 2010 (drummer and guitarist had previously collaborated in the band Food Chain).

ÄTSCH

ATSCH started life as a graduation ensemble put together by guitarist Mathias Winkler’s for his Newpark BA in 2016. Since then the quartet has held down a weekly residency in Dublin and in November (2017) , they released their self-titled debut EP. Since then ATSCH has become a regular appearances on the Irish Jazz and with concerts overseas as for the Jazzahead Clubnight 2018 in Bremen. ATSCH plays instrumental music in the spirit of exiting jazz improvisation within the sound aesthetics of modern-day post-rock. ATSCH is merging lyrical melodies with strong individual solo performances

Burchfield-Vituri Project

The Burchfield-Vituri Project is an ongoing series of collaborations between American saxophonist/woodwind doubler Tyler Burchfield and Brazilian guitarist Pedro Vituri. Influenced by modern and free jazz, traditional Brazilian music, modern classical, as well as funk and rock, Tyler and Pedro explore a wide sound palate, showcasing compositions and arrangements for duo, quartet, and larger ensemble, all of which can be heard on their debut album, Metonímia, released in March of 2018. Additionally, their versatility as performer-composers has served them well in collaborating on chamber music projects and film scores with other artists

Submotion Orchestra

Submotion Orchestra are a seven piece band formed in 2009 in Leeds, UK. They are influenced by dubstep, soul, ambient electronica, jazz and dub. Their debut EP Finest Hour was released on Ranking Records. They have performed all over the UK and Europe including Festival shows at The Big Chill, Latitude, Outlook and Bestival, and in Thailand at Wonderfruit. They have since released five full-length albums - Finest Hour (2011), Fragments (2012), Alium (2014), Colour Theory (2016), Kites (2018) - and two EPs - 1968 (2013) and III (2015).

Horse Orchestra

Horse Orchestra is a very special band on the modern Nordic jazz scene. The band members succeed in combining parts of the history of jazz with modern barrier-breaking musical experiments. In Horse Orchestra's universe classical 1920s New Orleans meet 1960s freejazz as well as hiphop and modern classical music, and it all ends up in an original, post-modern style that has no equivalent on the Nordic jazz scene.

Horse Orchestra consists of seven young musicians from Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and the band is a testimony to a new generation of musicians who master their musical historical legacy and try to help modern jazz music reach new heights

Stunning interpretations of New Orleans classics performed by an all-star quartet, assembled by Big Air and Loose Tubes trumpeter and composer Chris Batchelor. “21st Century Acid Trad” also features the endlessly creative rhythm section of pianist Liam Noble, Oren Marshall on tuba and drummer Paul Clarvis. The result is an exceptional group who adopt an experimental collective approach that is rooted in traditional practice, and can stretch the material in all directions without losing its essential character.
