"With this quartet I'm aiming to explore a wide range of stylistic colours and create a broad improvisational palette, so that the soloists can feel free to stretch out. I believe strongly in melody and hold the groove to be sacred. Musical freedom and experimentation excite me and I'm always looking for new sounds and directions that work well within the genre of a contemporary jazz quartet."

Modo Trio
The Edmonton, Alberta-based Modo Trio was founded in 1999 by trombonist Craig Brenan and bassist Jeff Johnson to explore their mutual interest in Electroacoustic Chamber and spontaneous improvised music, as well as the Drum ‘n’ Bass music that was reaching Western Canada at that time. The group solidified its current line-up when drummer Bill George joined the group in 2003, and has continued to evolve its approach, bringing inspirations such as dub music into its already eclectic sound. Defined by Brenan’s rare use of harmonizers and loops to augment the sound of his acoustic trombone, Modo Trio has been called “a fascinating mix of exotic contemporary grooves and improvisation” (Roger Levesque, Edmonton Journal), toured across its native Canada and appeared on Canadian television

Second Movement
Active since:
A BOPPING DANCEFLOOR is the mission of New York City’s Second Movement (www.secondmovement.com). The band, which began its journey into groove-driven jazz-funk in 2003, has emerged as an energetic and original voice within the field, amazing audiences with the force and precision of its sound. They have headlined festivals and clubs along the East Coast, and have shared the stage with the undisputed Grandfather of the instrumental funk style, Meters’ guitarist Leo Nocentelli.
Second Movement is serious about its music, and its approach is thoroughly old school. Both of the band’s albums - the eponymous debut (2005) and the forthcoming LP - were recorded live in the studio. For the band, the perfect take means everything, and the music exists within the moment. The compositional detail, the rhythmic focus, the burning solos - everything you hear on these recordings take on an even greater intensity in a live setting.

The original and unique "In Between" project by the "Chameleon Trio" brings the listener to surprising and unexpected places. The program is very diverse; it`s filled with humor, anger, sadness, laughter, depression, melancholy and then laughter again. The music was composed by Dvir Katz and is inspired by a variety of styles, from the modern classical music through the avant-garde jazz and rock. Alongside with the strictly written compositions, an integral part of the music is free improvisation; this way each one of the musicians contributes his/her own individual and unique perception to the piece. The composition and the improvisation are inspired from a wide scale of styles from the early 20th century composers to contemporary music figures, among those- Edgar Varez, Thelonious Monk, Béla Bartók, Ornette Coleman, Louis Sclavis, Sergey Prokofiev, "King Crimson", Gyorgy Ligeti, Eric Dolphy, Paco de Lucia, Frank Zappa, Vyacheslav Ganelin and many other composers and musicians. The composer`s (Dvir Katz`s) individual nature combined with those varied influences led to the unique style of writing; and together with the wonderful interpretation and improvisation of the musicians gave birth to the special sound of "Chameleon Trio". "...The initiation of the "Swedish Chef" club at it`s new residence was a brilliant success; the "Chameleon Trio" concert was exciting both conceptually and musically and the Cinemateque auditorium was full with supportive audience..." Asher Kesher- "Kol Hazman" (Jerusalem) "...This long night concluded with one of the first performances by the new Chameleon Trio•Dvir Katz (flute) and Nitai Levi (clarinets), both swirled around the assured playing of Ora Boasson-Horev (bass)

They have ever since represented an open attitude towards jazz and are well known for their bold, groovy and direct approach. Their arrangements of classic jazz standard tunes as well as rock classics and soul hits early made an impact on the Swedish and international audience and they have been praised for their special style in the Swedish music press as well as among young aspiring musicians
