Wendy Jones

Wendy has appeared on stages from New York to Tokyo and has performed with artists such as NEA Jazz Master Jamey Aebersold, legendary jazz guitarist Howard Alden, jazz violinist Christian Howes, the Page Brothers, Crystal Gale, and has sung backup for the alternative hip hop group Deltron 3030 and for Las Vegas Elvis Impersonator, Donnie Edwards.

She has appeared at Club Bonafide in NYC, the Jazz Arts Initiative, the Mountain Oasis Music Festival, the Spartanburg Jazz Festival, Our World Festival, and the Django Reinhardt Festival in Asheville, NC

In addition to singing with her own jazz quartet, she is the featured vocalist with the Asheville Jazz Orchestra, the Ole ’74 big Band, the Russ Wilson Orchestra, the Michael Jefry Stevens Trio, the Richard Shulman Group and is often a guest vocalist with the Greenville Jazz Collective big band.

Rich Willey

Born:

Rich Willey plays trumpet, bass trumpet, valve trombone, tuba and Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI). Rich continues to teach privately and composes and arranges music for various-sized jazz ensembles. A U.S Army bandsman, he studied at the U.S. Navy School of Music and then attended North Texas State University where he studied jazz improvisation with Rich Matteson, Jack Petersen and Dan Haerle. Rich spent his formative years as a jazz player in Philadelphia and NYC clubs and later participated in the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop studying with Bob Brookmeyer and Manny Albam. At the Manhattan School of Music Rich studied arranging with Mike Abene, trumpet with Byron Stripling, improvisation with Garry Dial and film scoring with Ed Green, graduating with a masters in jazz performance/trumpet. Rich has toured with Maynard Ferguson and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and has played numerous times for the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Cab Calloway Orchestra, the Sammy Kaye Orchestra and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Through the years Rich has played with and/or for: Lionel Hampton, Hank Mobley, Don Patterson, Buddy Morrow, Bob Haggart, Dick Hyman, Claudio Roditi, Chris Potter, Conrad Herwig, John Swana, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Drew Jr., Brad Mehldau, Mel Tormé, Bobby Sanabria, Skitch Henderson, Tommy Flanagan, and many others. Richard Shulman

Keyboardist and composer Richard Shulman creates music intended to be a positive influence for himself, audiences and society. Richard has recorded 27 of his own albums as well as more than two dozen other recordings for which he has provided compositions, performances and/or musical production. Trained in the classical and jazz fields, he has developed a heartfelt language in these genres while focussing a significant amount of his output on music for meditation, healing and inspiration. He currently divides his concert schedule between performances of his meditation music and his original jazz as personified by The Richard Shulman Group. Shulman has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Art Park, the United Nations, the Kool Jazz Festival, The Amenia Peace Festival and a wide variety of other venues throughout North America and in Europe. As a composer, Shulman has created over eighty pieces for jazz quartet as well as songs and pieces for chamber ensembles, choir, and symphony orchestra

Michael Jefry Stevens

I was born in New York City in 1951 and received my MA in Music from Queens College in 1992 where I studied with Jimmy Heath, Sir Roland Hanna, Thea Musgrave, Sol Berkowitz and Donald Byrd. I was the Margaret Lee Crofts Fellow at "The MacDowell Colony" in the summer of 2000 and received 2nd prize in the Monaco International Jazz Composition. In 2006 I was a Composer Fellow at Centrum Arts in Port Townsend, WA. I am a "Steinway Artist". I have been and continue to be an active pianist/composer and band leader for the past 40 years. I have released over 90 cds of my original music on numerous jazz record labels including Leo Records (England), Drimala Records (VA), Soul Note Records (Italy), Konnex Records Germany), Music and Arts (CA), Cadence Records (NY), Red Toucan Records (Canada), GM Recordings (MA) 482 Music (NY), Unit Records (Switzerland), Nottwo Records (Poland), Cadence Jazz (USA), Playscape recordings, ForTune Records (Poland), Artist's Recording Collective (USA) and several other labels
