Ahmed Nazmi is considered to be one of the most inspiring bass players in Egypt. Since a young age Nazmi has been very interested in playing Egyptian traditional music, using varying instruments, as well as exploring global music. Between the ages of 6-15 he played the Egyptian Oud (lute), classical guitar, and drums. At age 15 he discovered his passion for playing the bass; this passion lead him from his hometown Mitt Ghamr to Cairo where the diverse music scene allowed his musicianship to quickly mature and develop. As he continues to develop his musicianship and professional signature he delicately balances traditional Egyptian music, fusion jazz, and, more recently, the music of Africa into his playing and distinctive style
