Musician

Adam Levy

Born:

Adam Levy is best known for his steady gig as the featured guitarist in Norah Jones' Handsome Band. He played on her breakout 2002 disk Come Away with Me and her 2004 follow-up Feels Like Home. More recently, he played on Amos Lee's eponymous Blue Note debut. In addition to Levy's skills as a player, he is a gifted songwriter. He penned "In the Morning" for Jones' Feels Like Home, and other artists have recorded his songs as well. The best way to hear Levy's folk/pop/blues gems, however, is straight from the source.

Billie Davies: 12 Volt

Read "12 Volt" reviewed by C. Michael Bailey

Drummer Billie Davies' previous recording, All About Love (Self Produced, 2012) was novel and compelling, a trombone trio with the drummer lead. Davies assembled original and standard works, achieving both educational and artistic endpoints. The present recording, 12 Volt, retains the trio format, substituting the guitar for the trombone and pushes the trio envelope out with ...

Billie Davies: 12 Volt

Read "12 Volt" reviewed by Hrayr Attarian

Belgium native and Los Angeles based drummer Billie Davies continues to forge her own path in the improvised music world. Endowed with an explorative temperament and unique, yet definite swing sense, Davies pays homage to Gypsy musicians on her fourth release as a leader, 12 Volt. Just to be clear, this is not an ...

Adam Levy: Buttermilk Channel

Read "Buttermilk Channel" reviewed by Joel Roberts

I don't know if guitarist Adam Levy made Buttermilk Channel with the searing heat of New York in July in mind, but his impressive debut effort as a leader makes perfect listening for lazy, languorous midsummer city days. On this groove-based trio album (featuring New York stalwarts Larry Goldings on organ and Kenny Wollesen on drums), ...
