The mix maintains a brisk, but smooth pace and incorporates melodic grooves with minimal, but well placed vocals to create atmosphere. The programming is sublime, gently drawing you in with tracks like Doc L. Junior’s simmering "Preacher Man" that combines samples of an enthusiastic preacher low down in the mix supplemented with velvet-wrapped snares. Julius Papp’s "Libido" adds a Balearic flavor with rise-and-shine acoustic guitars. The groove continues with Mayaku’s "This Is Mayaku’s Theme" and its hypnotic bass line and cerebral melodic layers. Other highlights include Turner’s quietly soulful "Been Out" and Rubba J.’s "Past Bedtime" that uplifts with jazzy keyboard phrases. Some More Freaky Stuff is a collection of supremely understated funky house that manages to consistently tickle your emotional, feel-good sweet spot.
