Living Colour: Shade
Eppure in Shades troviamo i migliori Living Colour in 13 canzoni che non cedono un millimetro al tempo che passa e che rispondono ai tempi moderni con la stessa virulenza degli anni Novanta, linguaggio da deejay con inserti di scratch simulati dalla fantasmagorica chitarra di Reid, fra echi lontani di blues ("Preachin' Blues" e il padre spirituale Robert Johnson), soul ("Inner City Blues Make Me Wanna Holler" dell'altro padre, Marvin Gaye), e hip-hop.
Shade procede fra batterie e bassi muscolari, riff marmorei nella migliore tradizione della band, senza sostanzialmente nulla aggiungere o togliere alla trama del libro scritto fin qui, ma testimoniando l'ottima salute del gruppo formatosi nel 1984 a New York.
