Two-time Grammy Nominee Jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton and The Tierney Sutton Band will conduct an interactive Jazz Band Master Class followed by an evening concert Saturday September 19, 2009. Workshop 11a-3p and the evening concert will be 8p-11p Upstairs at Vitello's Jazz Lounge in Studio City, CA 4348 Tujunga Ave. This is part of the LA JAZZPRO RED CARPET JAZZ MASTER CLASS SERIES offered by the LA JAZZPRO CONNECTION. This is the sixth event in the series produced by April Williams.
Tierney is an active Jazz Educator and Vocal Department head of LA Music Academy. Tierney and her Band have been playing together for over 15 years and have produced 8 critically acclaimed CDs (Seven are on the Telarc label). They have performed all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
The focus of Master Class will be: Creating your own Musical Space and The Art of True Collaboration with musicians. There will be a Q&A session and an opportunity to work individually “With the Band. – Onstage Upstairs at Vitello’s. Her band features world-class pianist Christian Jacob, Kevin Axt on bass, Trey Henry on bass and Ray Brinker on drums. Bring 1-2 song charts (in your key if you are a vocalist) with 3 copies each.
