As he envisions it, a mid-size ensemble can be approached in fundamentally different ways than with a conventional big band. That is, going beyond a “little big band" concept. Roger has written a series of scores for mid-size ensemble. They use flexible instrumentation to enable the music to be performed by many configurations of instruments.
