About the Pianists-in-Residence"
Bob Boguslaw is a fulltime musician with the Marine Band stationed at The White House. He will feature his wife Mary as guest singer or marvelous bassist Dave Wundrow.
John Eaton has been called a legendary player, again with decades of playing under his belt. John specializes in what he considers the masters of 20th century jazz - people like Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael and Gershwin and numerous show tunes as well. A graduate of Yale, John has a sharp wit and winning way with audiences.
Tom Korth recently retired as the Chairman of the Music Department at Howard University, where he was on the faculty for over 30 years. Tom was celebrated as a teacher of classical piano, while he equally loved and played jazz piano. His repertoire is wide-ranging -- from standards to be-bop, Brubeck to Chick Corea - and he will bring with him his keyboard which sits on top of the piano so that he can incorporate B3 organ touches.
Dick Morgan is a virtuoso player who has been based in DC for almost 50 years and is over 80 years young. Bassist Dave Einhorn will usually accompany him.
Robert Redd studied trumpet first and attended the prestigious Berkley School of Music before turning to the piano as his principal instrument some 25 years ago. Now he plays everywhere - with his brother Chuck Redd in all-Brazilian concerts, for the Governor of Maryland, at the Phillips Collection, as principal pianist for countless singers.
Bob Smith performed for nearly 32 years with The United States Army Band as the official White House and Vice President's House pianist, Sergeant Major of The United States Army Chorale, and as enlisted director and founder of The Army Blues Jazz Ensemble. Through his White House duties he entertained every president from Richard Nixon through Bill Clinton, and every vice president from Walter Mondale through Al Gore. He often performs with Robert Vetter.
