A new report from Edison Research/Arbitron Internet details Twitter awareness and usage of Twitter, as well as, demographics, behaviors, and preferences. Highlights of the online presentation (below):
- Awareness of Twitter grew from 5% of Americans 12+ in 2008 to 87% in 2010
- Twitter still trails Facebook significantly in usage: 7% use Twitter while 41% maintain a profile on Facebook.
- Two thirds of active Twitter users access social networking via mobile
- 51% of Twitter users follow brands on social networks
