A note from Mimi Fox regarding LIVE AT THE PALLADIUM:

This is my ninth project as a leader and I am absolutely thrilled to be presenting this live project as a video. There is something special that happens in a live situation with the audience a part of your every move...exciting! I have to say right off the bat, that my partner in crime Brad Wendkos and the entire crew from TrueFire are really amazing. They made the process of filming and recording this DVD completely seamless and effortless. I am eternally appreciative of their amazing work.

The two nights at the Palladium were also special for me because I had two of my favorite people with me as part of my trio. Drummer Akira Tana has worked with so many great artists over the years including people like Sonny Rollins, Jim Hall, and Rufus Reid and I am grateful indeed that he is now a fellow S.F. Bay Area resident with me...we work together all the time and Akira never fails to both support my music with intelligence and keen insight, but also to spur me on to further explorations with his amazing artistry.

Bassist Chris Enghauser and I met when I played at the Athens Twilight Jazz Festival a few years ago and we hit it off immediately. Chris plays with the Macon symphony in addition to being a first call bassist in the area and I think you can tell by his passion and focus here what a truly caring musician he is. His goal in any situation is to bring his heart and soul to the table to make the music happen for his fellow musicians and the audience.

Both he and Akira made this a very enjoyable two nights for me and we had a ton of fun hangin' in St. Petersburg for a few days. The music features three new originals of mine: Blues For Two," “Roses In January," and “Pack of Lies." We also have a few surprises on some standards as well as two solo pieces to round out the program.

As an artist, I am rarely satisfied with my work and constantly push myself to get better and to find the path of complete freedom. I think for this date there are some magical moments and I hope you, the listener, can feel this too. Everyone gave of themselves completely and I hope this spirit of giving as well as camaraderie is palpable.

Thanks for listening!
