Miles Davis fan's and Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to some unusual fusion music. India's foremost musicians have compiled an album titled Miles From India, a cross-cultural celebration of the music of Miles Davis who is considered one of the most important figures in jazz history. He was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
Miles experimented with all kinds of music from acid jazz, street jazz to hip hop. The only music that he didn't indulge much into during his lifetime was the Indian music. I found the project very fascinating because it is a fusion of Miles' compositions and various Indian instruments. My task was to take Miles' music and treat it in an Indianised way," says Banks who was chosen to partake in the album by producers Yusuf Gandhi and Bob Belden. Other Indian artists that are part of the album include Shankar Mahadevan, Rakesh Chaurasia, Sikki Gurucharan, Dilshad Khan, Taufiq Qureshi, U Shrinivas and Vikku Vinayakram.
