SASKATCHEWAN CANADA - At a press conference today at the Regina Inn, the Regina Jazz Society announced that JazzFest Regina 2009 will feature two legendary artists and their groups as the first two headliner acts for its inaugural festival.

Jazz and blues pianist and singer, Mose Allison, who has played and recorded with jazz greats Stan Getz, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims and Gerry Mulligan, will be playing in a trio with premier Canadian musicians, drummer Sandro Dominelli and double bassist Mike Lent. As well, Juno Award winning trombonist/pianist/composer Hugh Fraser and VEJI (Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Improvisation), a 12 piece band that includes a number of fellow Juno Award winning musicians, will be playing at JazzFest Regina 2009.

These two major forces in jazz will help lead the charge in a power-packed three-day festival featuring 15 jazz acts. Additional headliner and local acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

JazzFest Regina 2009 will take place June 26 through June 28, 2009, and is presented by the Regina Jazz Society, an organization that has been presenting live jazz music to audiences in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada since 1977.
