As you may have heard, San Francisco music venues Cafe du Nord, Bottom of the Hill, Great American Music Hall and Slim's are currently embroiled in a ridiculous legal battle with the Alcohol and Beverage Control - front page news on SF Gate on April 11.
Those venues could be forced to close, owners say, if the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, better known as ABC, continues to impose rules that club attorneys argue are legally questionable and often unrelated to booze or safety issues. It's really bad and could seriously affect the local music scene (think of San Francisco and Noise Pop without GAMH, Slim's, Bottom of the Hill or Du Nord!).
All of the clubs have suffered a great deal of legal expenses in the past year. Our friends at Slim's and the Music Hall have made these cool shirts, purchase of which will go to support their ongoing legal bills and help keep them alive. They are only $20 and are available in person at the Slim's box office M-F from 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., or email [email protected] for instructions on mail or fax orders.
And another thing you can do is contact State Senator Mark Leno:
Senator Mark Leno

Phone (916) 651-4003

And ask him to take action to stop the ABC's witch hunt against All Ages venues. He has the power to look into this and change things.
Special thanks to our peeps over at Noise Pop for spearheading the movement.
