Find Out What Your Web Site Looks Like on an iPad

You may be sick of reading about the iPad, but it's important that you think about what your web site looks like on the popular new device. iPad Peek is a simple tool that helps you do just that.

The iPad does not support Flash, so to really know what your site looks like you'll need to disable it in your browser. (instructions after the jump). But even if you don't use flash be sure to click on the top border to switch from landscape to portrait. The virtual keyboard and buttons just for show, but the reload button on the iPad browser does work.

To get closer to the real deal, you should disable the Flash plugin in your browser and change the user agent string to that of the Apple iPad:

To do this last bit in Firefox (Firefox), type “about:config" in the address bar, click the right mouse button, select New - String, and name it “general.useragent.override". Then enter the value “Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B334b Safari (Safari)/531.21.10".
