Koniec—a cinematic journey by Konrad Ciesielski through sound, emotion and contemporary expression.
Koniec is the solo release by Konrad Ciesielski, drummer and composer known from Blindead, Octopussy or Tranquilizer, who this time embarks on a fresh sonic exploration. It is music built on cinematic tension and emotional depth, blending ambient textures, experimental electronics, contemporary jazz inspirations and film-like sound design.
Konrad Ciesielski has been a recognizable presence on the Polish alternative scene for many years. As a co-founder of Blindead, he helped shape some of the most important Polish post-metal albums, and his drumming, precise, storytelling and vividly atmospheric, became his hallmark. On Koniec, Ciesielski steps outside the formula of a traditional band. He constructs a musical narrative using space, repetition and feeling. His rhythm does not dominate but flows, and sound itself becomes a form of contemplation.
The atmosphere of Koniec may evoke associations with artists such as GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Hidden Orchestra or Massive Attack, creators who skillfully merge electronics with acoustic instruments and spacious arrangements, building emotional, cinematic landscapes. A similar sensitivity appears in Immortal Onion, Nene Heroine, Nils Frahm or Dead Can Dance, where the organic nature of sound meets reflective mood and a modern approach to composition and production. The album also includes a wide spectrum of guests, each adding their own tone and expression.
In the opening track “Out of Gravity,” you can hear Jan Galbas, known from the iconic Tricity project Ampacity as well as from his own work on the borders of improvisation and experimental contemporary music. His piano becomes the emotional pivot of the piece, and his phrasing introduces an organic, almost film-like layer.
In “Miscommunication Land,” the vocal part is performed by Gabriela Wasilewska, an artist tied to the Tricity performance scene. Her voice, somewhere between spoken word and delicate singing, brings in a narrative on human distance and misunderstanding, themes that echo throughout the album.
The track “Taganana” features Dawid Lipka, a trumpeter known from Ńoko and a frequent collaborator of Marcin Świetlicki or Tymon Tymański. His trumpet, full of breath and sonic openness, guides the listener toward contemporary improvised jazz and organic ambient territories.
A significant role is also played by Patrycja Tempska, a saxophonist active within the Tricity jazz and experimental community. Her parts, recorded for “Out of Gravity” and “Kamdra,” create tension and motion, providing a soft counterpoint to the electronic layer.
Although each composition brings a different voice, instrument and emotional tone, the album maintains a coherent identity, grounded in calmness, attention to detail and a filmic approach to sound.
For Mindses Music, Koniec marks another chapter in exploring the sonic space where spirituality meets experiment, and introspection meets artistic boldness. It also shows that contemporary music can remain emotive and contemplative without drifting into formalism.
The Koniec LP premieres on November 5, 2025. The album will be available digitally on major streaming platforms and as a limited collector’s physical edition.
