In 1981, director Brigitte Berman released Bix: 'Ain't None of Them Play Like Him,' a documentary on cornetist Bix Beiderbecke. The short-sentence narration and interviews with Beiderbecke's bandmates are remarkable. You may know Berman best as the winner of an Oscar for Artie Shaw: Time Is All You've Got, which she shared in 1987 with Down and Out in America, directed by Lee Grant. Berman's most recent documentary is Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel (2009).
