The Rosenberg Trio
Coming this 23rd of January, the Django Reinhardt Centennial anniversary will be celebrated all along 2010, and all across the globe, with all major gypsy artists paying a tribute.

The Rosenberg Trio, the world's most reputed gipsy jazz band, have teamed up with their friend guitarist extraordinaire Birli Lagrene, and deliver a smashing new project: Djangologists--celebrating 100 years of Django Reinhardt.

Exclusively available online, first on the band's site at the groundbreaking price of 8 euros, and shortly after on all music stores such as Itunes, Amazon.com, Napster and so on, at each store's own pricing, the DJANGOLOGISTS album is 18 tracks, five of which feature special Guest Bireli Lagrene, PLUS a one hour bonus video documentary shot during the Rosenberg Trio's week in studio.

In pure Django Spirit, as if one hour of music plus one hour of free video wasn't enough, the Rosenberg Trio had to do a little more to make their celebration of Reinhardt's genius more enjoyable, so they just recorded 6 standards, compiled them into the aptly named “Free as The Wind" mini album, and added it to the project... With the difference that these 6 tracks are TOTALLY FREE, so that anyone not into buying the regular “full album" could get them in a click...
When asked about this giveaway, bandleader Stochelo Rosenberg says “we felt it was quite adventurous to go all digital, as many people among our fans might not be too sure about buying mp3s only, without a physical copy from a store -even for us gipsy musicians, this concept is very new and may seem strange... So we felt that offering this for free and separately, although its a part of the same project, would make people feel safer about the whole thing, and even would be a little compensation to those who will not buy online, no matter what. It's our present to them, and it's really in the spirit of gispy life and music : what is not shared is lost ! Django would have done something like this", Rosenberg adds laughingly.

Stochelo Rosenberg and the Rosenberg Trio are scheduled to play in Canada in May 2010, Seattle's Djangofest in September, a bit of Japan in November, Norway, Denmark, Italy, France, and basically all over Europe all year long...

DJANGOLOGISTS is out already, and can be listened to on the band's website, therosenbergtrio.com and there are also a few videos on youtube...

A good start for 2010!
