CD Release Party - Dave Fabris And Friends With Special Guest, Ran Blake!

Dave Knife Fabris
Guitarist and New England Conservatory alum Dave Fabris celebrates the release of his latest CD Lettuce Prey with a concert at Spectrum, 121 Ludlow St. NYC on June 8th at 5pm. Fabris will be joined by his mentor from NEC - the great third stream pianist, Ran Blake. Also appearing will be pianist Geoffery Burleson, bassist Dave Phillips, vocalist Maria Tegzes, guitarist Gus Baxter, and drummer Steve Chaggaris.

Lettuce Prey (Great Winds/Musea 3169) is music that possesses the guts and glory of Rock, the surprise and intrigue of jazz, and the intricacy and depth of contemporary classical music…

“Nothing is overdone or extreme but consistently well-crafted on a few different levels…What I like most about this is that Fabris finds ways of rearranging pieces so we that we never know what direction any one piece will take." - Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery

“Fabris is beautifully all over the place as he skillfully and with great passion tackles classical composers…Scythian Suite is ferocious and serious, blending the essence of the original with some rock-world fervor." - Donald Elfman, NYC Jazz Record

Fabris, a veteran of the NYC and Boston rock scenes (CBGBs, The Rat), was a reserve guitarist for Bernie Worrell (of the seminal funk band Parliament) and played banjo for both of President Clinton's Inaugurations. He is currently a member of the experimental big band, the Pittsburgh Collective and the punk cabaret trio, IMPetus
