Ted Hogwood is a former NBA power forward who desperately needs to get his Gibson L5-CES guitar out of hock and Jerry Kwiatkowski, a disciple of Jimmy Smith, is just desperate for some rent money, not to mention his B-3 was stolen and he needs a replacement. They accept an assignment from a not-quite legitimate branch of United States Intelligence to retrieve a boomerang inside of which is hidden a secret that should have died with J. Edgar Hoover in 1973.
