Americana music is hard to define until you visit Nashville. There, an audience not vested in corporate country, has embraced artists as diverse as Jason Isbell, Lumineers, Darlingside and Ben Folds collectively known as Americana.

The Americana Music Association and Record Store Day have announced a partnership to create Americana Music Month, which will take place throughout June 2016.

More than 100 independent record stores are participating throughout the month providing free music samplers, special deals on new and classic Americana albums, and in-store promotions. For more information on in-store events and other spotlights during Americana Music Month, check out recordstoreday.com.

This event precedes the annual Americana Music Festival & Conference (AmericanaFest) which takes place in Nashville, TN September 20-25, 2016. More than 200 acts will perform over the course of the multi-day event in what Mojo magazine described as the “roots music alternative to the GRAMMYs and SXSW.”

Conference registrations are on sale now, giving you access to all daytime and nighttime events. Showcase wristbands will get you in to the evening shows at venues around town and are available for only $60 in Nashville at Grimey’s and The Groove, and online at mercylounge.com. For more information and to see a list of current acts slated to perform at AmericanaFest 2016, click here.
