Rich Lamb
Since moving to Colorado in 1989, Rich has been performing with various artists, including Brazilian drum legend, Claudio Sloan and upcoming pianist Pat Bianchi. He performs in a nationally released PBS video concert playing with saxophone greats Ernie Watts and Ed Summerlin recorded at the Deer Mountain Jazz Festival in South Dakota (1992). Also performed there with sax legend Hank Crawford. He performs on the new release by Hazel Miller, Icons, as well as the "Live At The Fox" CD released by Hazel Miller and The Caucasians. Rich has subbed several times on E Town, the nationally syndicated radiio program which is recorded live in Boulder and played there with David Wilcox, Joan Baez, Martin Sexton and Greg Brown. He is currently freelancing and performing on the upright bass with pianists including Pat Bianchi, Geoff Cleveland, Eric Moon, Dana Marsh and Bill Unrau. You can also see him playing throughout Colorado with John Denver alums, guitarists /songwriters Pete Huttlinger and Jim Salestrom.
As a composer and first time as a leader, Rich has just finished his new CD, Music Along The Way. Featuring cornet master, Ron Miles (currently playing with guitarist Bill Frisell), pianist Chuck Lamb (touring with the Brubeck Brothers and featured on their new release “Classified”) and drummer Chris Lee (who leads his own group Primal Mates), this is a creative and improvisational collection of Rich’s music that he has written “along the way”. The recording was done in one session and the playing is inspired and interactive relying on the big ears and excellent musicianship of those involved.

“...an artistically rewarding and great sounding recording with an emotional immediacy that is impressive. A high level of interactive musicianship is displayed. Perhaps the biggest revelation on this CD is the consistent sophistication of the well crafted compositions. Rich Lamb is the composer, and while there is no doubt that this is a jazz recording brimming with improvisational skill, there is an almost "classical structure” underpinning the intelligent chord progressions and often beautiful and evocative melodies.” - Chris Brubeck, bassist/composer
