Angelo Domenico Alfieri

Angelo Domenico Alfieri is an Italian saxophonist and composer based in Milan. His musical research explores the intersections of jazz, rock, pop and orchestral music, with a particular interest in extended forms, cinematic soundscapes and the expressive possibilities of instrumental composition.

His debut album as a bandleader, Ad Astra (2026), is a six-part concept album featuring an eleven-piece ensemble, including a rhythm section, horns and string quartet. Rooted in the jazz tradition, the project moves across different musical territories, combining improvisation, intricate arrangements and a strong narrative dimension. His compositional influences range from Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock to the cinematic works of Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni and Piero Umiliani.

Alfieri graduated with honours and special distinction in Jazz Saxophone from the Claudio Abbado Civic School of Music in Milan, where he studied with Giulio Visibelli and Gabriele Comeglio. He is currently pursuing advanced studies in Jazz Composition at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan. He has served as lead tenor saxophonist of the Civica Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Luca Missiti, performing alongside prominent Italian jazz musicians.

Alongside his jazz career, Alfieri has worked in recording sessions and production projects across the Italian urban music scene, contributing saxophone performances and compositions to recordings by artists including Guè and 22Simba.

With Ad Astra, he establishes his own compositional voice, approaching jazz as an open language through which to explore different musical worlds.
