Maria Solena
Yesterday and Tomorrow is Maria's fourth studio album, recorded at the acclaimed Greenhouse Studio in Vancouver, BC. This is Maria’s first album of original music. It draws on her creative skill in blending swinging jazz standards, Brazilian rhythms, and contemporary pop. Maria crafts a sound that combines classic elegance with a modern flair.
An internationally celebrated artist, Maria Solena has enchanted audiences alongside jazz luminaries such as Richie Cole, Phil Dwyer, Campbell Ryga, George Robert, and Seamus Blake. Her music has been featured on CBC Radio, WAMC/Northeast Public Radio, KUVO, and even as bumper music for the internationally syndicated Coast to Coast AM. Emmy Award-winner Michael K. Leader describes Maria’s voice as “meticulous in phrasing, delicate in dynamics, and possessing an almost transparent quality that reveals the true beauty of music.”
This latest album weaves together universal themes—nostalgic memories, heartbreak, dreams, courage, vision of the future, and the many shades of love. Every track tells its own story, inviting listeners to find a piece of themselves in the music. There’s something here for everyone to connect with.
Maria had the opportunity to work with two amazing producer/arrangers: Allan Rodger and Miles Black. Songs 1-6, 8 and 10 with Allan Rodger. Saxophone, flute, trumpet and trombone by Tom Keenlyside. Songs 7 and 9 with Miles Black. All songs composed and written by Maria Solena (except song 1).
"Music, like love, is a powerful force that can unite, inspire, and transform humanity." ~ Maria Solena
