Clint Holmes
Clint Holmes’ story unfolded as if written by fate, yet each turn was so unexpected and remarkably successful, it exceeded even his wildest imagination.
Clint’s father was an African-American jazz singer and his mother was a classically-trained British opera singer. Clint jokes, “My mom taught me how to sing correctly, and my dad taught me how to enjoy it.” Despite being raised in a musical household from birth, Clint believes his musical journey really began when his father took him to an afternoon jazz jam session when he was just 12 years old. Clint later wrote about that life-changing experience in the song “At the Rendezvous,” which featured Joey DeFrancesco on organ.
As a recording artist, Clint topped the charts in the U.S. and Canada, earning a gold record and two Grammy nominations (in two decades.) He has performed extensively internationally including 2 command performances at Monte Carlo’s famed Sporting Club. Stateside, his triumphs range from the grand stages of Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl to the chic corners of Cafe Carlyle and Birdland. Over his storied career, Clint has performed for 6 U.S. Presidents (and most of them, more than once.) His collaborations with Dave Koz, Jane Monheit, Ledisi, Kirk Whalum, Tom Scott and Take Six have delighted jazz fans on stages across the country and on the annual Jazz Cruise.
Las Vegas has embraced him as an institution, where he headlined at Harrah’s on the strip for seven years and received numerous accolades, including multiple “Casino Entertainer of the Year”, and “Best Singer“ awards.
As a composer, his stage productions have graced prestigious theaters like the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey and The Royal George Theater in Chicago.
Clint was Joan Rivers’s sidekick on ”The Late Show,” later hosted his own Emmy award-winning talk show, “New York at Night” and served as music correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight.”
Clint is an advocate for worthy causes and is always generous with his time and talents, championing organizations such as JDRF and the American Cancer Society. His dedication to mentoring young musicians through the Jazz Outreach Initiative, the Las Vegas Academy and Positively Arts reflects his enduring passion for music and mentorship.
Clint Holmes is an extraordinary artist whose unique blend of talent, charisma, and generosity has made him an institution both in jazz circles and in the world of entertainment at large.
At this point in his career, having earned the gold record, Grammy nod, Emmy win, plus a roomful of awards and accolades too numerous to count, what’s left? Clint’s frequently-sold-out concert series “Icons Re-Imagined” salutes the singers and songwriters who most inspired him, while sharing his incredible story through song.
